Varioflex seats on Edition - brute force?

Featured Replies

Has anyone with an Edition - ie full leather seats and varioflex - actually managed to slide them backwards and forwards yet?

Is there a trick to it? I'm waggling the metal handle thing underneath them, but can't get them to shift . Neither could the dealer in the one in the showroom (which was also an Edition with full leather seats). He thought the leather seats might not slide, although they do recline and lift out.

I've seen videos of people sliding them easily but they've always been cloth seats - are the leather ones fixed?

Not sure if leather ones are fixed (did you specify rear heated seats?)

I have varioflex in roomster and they can seem to lock, try giving them a shove forwards from the boot before lifting the bar.  What seems to happen is that if someone jumps in and lands heavily on the seat, they get pushed back marginally and then the bar doesn’t fully open the catch.  Pulling the bar up sort of lifts front of seats and tends to tighten it further.

From memory you can only tilt and lift them out after moving them fully backwards so you have to slide them fully first.  Might be different in a Karoq

Having own my Karoq, for just over 2 weeks, the rear seats on the Edition, I have had no problems all adjusting the seats. Easy to slide, recline and lifting out. I have found them easy move in all directions, compared to my Yeti, Roomster Scout and VW Touran.

Thanks all

I can get the seats to recline no problem, and the handle underneath seems to lift just like it says in the manual - I just cannot get the seats bases to shift. I might take them out completely and then refit them to see if that makes a difference.

Well done SurreyJohn. A boot from the boot (so to speak) before lifting the lever and they are now moving freely. Thanks!

What about if you take the middle seat out?

Maybe they’re rubbing against each other.

Funnily enough I tried moving them in the Yeti once, out of interest, without success, never bothered again!

I'm 6'1" so the rear passengers need as much space as they can get!

I just tried it on ours and it was fine, a firm pull and they moved.

Does the middle one slide? It doesn't on the Yeti and because of this I think the whole sliding seat business to give more room in the boot is nonsense!

No, only the outside seats move

Thanks. Thought as much. Funny nobody mentions this in the reviews.

Pretty sure the middle seat slides as the Edition I was in for a test drive had the middle seat more forward than one of the outer seats, the salesperson had trouble moving it back but managed.  She did say they come from the factory very stiff.

I'll double check tomorrow if I get a chance but from memory there isn't a handle under the middle seat (unlike the outer seats) and the manual only shows the outer seats as moveable so I'm pretty sure it doesn't move - it does recline alright though.

It's a bit hazy as it was the beginning of January and a fairly quick test drive but I do seem to remember lifting a handle below the middle seat I was sitting on to push it backwards. Didn't work so I got out and that's when the salesperson had a go which worked.

I am looking at ordering a Karoq in the next few months and have done a lot of research but still have a few questions.

Will you be able to remove the rear seats completely in an edition with heated rear seats? as I see wires being an issue.

and non related to varioflex seats - do you get the upper glove box like in the Kodiaq in Karoqs without canton?

I am very interested to hear from people who already have their Karoq as a quick read through the manual showed me a glove box in the middle of the dash.

YES, its pair of contacts between seat and floor, not a wiring harness this can be visible in several videos where Vario flex seats are tested

Based on i have seen yes
