Intercooler Upgrade

Featured Replies

3 fmic options are

E bay probably cheap from china. You may have problems with pipework fitting.

Seat sport Darkside with their own hardpipe work kit. Few joins. £550

Forge stopped making but I ve seen last stock for £800.

All will require, except forge, cutting into bumper mount front crash bar.

There is no smic aftermarket option for 130bhp vrs.

New oem smic is£380

I went for new pipework as I didn't like cutting up the bumper, crash bar and losing a major bumper mount point.

Have a look a James vrs , he has fitted a ebay fmic but has had problems fitting pipework.

The SEAT Sport style intercoolers need less dicking about to get them to fit, especially if the Ibiza crash bar is used. If you have OEM Xenons and headlamp washers, that's going to be a problem though.

Anything else requires more leg work and car down time. Though if you look at Rick B's setup, a large FMIC can be squeezed in there.

Thats what Im struggling with, choosing an intercooler with my factory xenons and headlight washers.  There is no forge stock, their made to order and they stopped making them summer 2017.

Id like to ideally find a Forge FMIC, the only thing that worries me is the cores are relatively thin compared to an airtec.

Id like to think I could fit an airtec intercooler with bespoke piping to accomodate the xenon headlight washers!

Anyone have ideas, solutions or in fact has a Forge intercooler for sale?

cheers Dean

Darkside said their fmic seat sport plus pipework will not fit with factory xenons.

The headlight washer sits in the place the top intercooler pipe goes

I guessed that, but hoped there may be a route round it, then again probably not without butchering bumper?

anyone got a Forge FMIC for sale?

cheers Dean

How about Allard?

If I remember correctly its single pass and the cold side pipe goes up in front of the radiator so won't be in the way of the headlight washer.

Saw that, Allard Motorsport are in Gloucester not far from me, the pipe passes through the air feed intake, I have my pd160 intake attached, which would render that useless?
