Delivery times

The salesman was talking about a new Skoda (most models) ordered now would be delivered in about 9 months.

If that's true, Skoda are going to lose quite a few loyal customers.

Maybe they will move to a new sales model, fixed trim levels, no options, buy only from stock. Like Kia, I believe Seat are doing this. Dealer can fit minor options before delivery. Simplifies WLTP and RDE.

Seat are doing it as looked at Ateca too little options I think I could only add  spare wheel and dealer indicated that Skoda will follow.  I expect they may do more limited editions with most of most popular extras.

I had ordered on 31st July, was given build week of week 38. Just had confirmation the car is not built yet. 1.6TDI DSG We Tech

2 months on and still no firm delivery date for a 1.6Tdi DSG SE L as seems too many have been orders for Skoda to cope with....

The salesman was talking about a new Skoda (most models) ordered now would be delivered in about 9 months.  Admittedly, he wasn't expecting to sell me a new car so he didn't qualify that but it does seem in line with the other posts from people who have been enquiring about new cars recently.  Looks like the only option for a quicker delivery is to take a stock vehicle.

9 months is not good

However I have heard more than one say that if the car is not delivered by March, then there is going to be a few weeks scheduled gap,  seems to come down to post Brexit uncertainty.    Reading between the lines I suspect as no-one can get clarity on what any rules or paperwork might be,  it is simply easier to schedule no deliveries to UK for few weeks whilst continuing with other markets.   Hence not quoting deliveries 6-7 months out, and playing safe saying 9 months.

Could well be that virtually no new cars are delivered in UK in April 2019

It could be that loads of new cars arrive in the UK to ports that are easy to have vehicles come in and for the Customs to wave through off the ships.

Cars coming in from around the world not just Continental Europe.

Cars with no passengers or goods in them like with ferries crossing the channel.  On ships and off ships, IT monitoring them without any opening of containers, packaging etc.

Then there are still cars being built in the UK and that will be getting built and ready for transportation and delivery around the UK.

Currently i doubt if even Derren Brown knows what the VW Group will be doing this year or early next about getting cars delivered in the UK.

Doesn't seem to be any factual reason for the difference in delivery times. I was lucky it seems, ordered 10th July, received 21st September.

Same spec car. Karoq SE-L 1.6 TD.

Was in Liverpool so took the opportunity to visit the dealer to have explaied a few things.

No, it doesn't have a cd/dvd player. The SD card slot in the glovebox is for music tracks, not images nor video. (My old 2005 Citroen C5 does).

Similarly the usb input on the console is for music.

To delete previous navigation destinations it's a bit of a rigmarole via various sub menus.

It doesn't have the ACC 'keep yopur distance' control feature but does have automatic braking in an emergency situation.

Gearbox mode allows three variants, Economy, Normal and Sport. Eco for me and getting  around 50mpg.

Tis good.

News today: September new car sales 20% down on last year, and diesels not so popular.

They had 1.6 TDI SCR TDI's with WLTP first along with cars with 1.0TSI & GPF's.

Not all different variations of them though.

The were pushing some to encourage the sale of these and there were plenty ordered for Motability Customers, as Motability Finance do purchase a lot of cars.

^^^ That seems to be getting run as a bad thing, bad for the Economy and car manufacturing, and jobs.

But the Governments want people out of cars, onto public transport, reducing pollution, walking, cycling, working from home, working in the Gig Economy,

and doing home shopping and more Light Goods Vehicles taking shopping to peoples homes.

So if as well as less First Registrations there are more cars being scrapped they are achieving their goal simply by scaring people about increased interest rates, diesel parking charges increasing etc, then the horrlicks of the WLTP introduction, and Dealership Employees ignorance.

One of my big hates. Time and time again the desirable options are bundled in with a panoramic glass roof. That is one thing I won't have on a car.

Yay! Just had an online chat with Skoda UK re my order and the advisor said that my car will be at the dealership week 41 which is w/c 8/10/18 ie next week! Will ring the dealership on Monday for more info and to arrange the handover, etc.

after 2 months of not getting a straight answer from anyone about a build date for my car, live chat confirmed today that it would be Feb at the earliest.  I am not sure i would have ordered if i knew it would be a 6 month wait

The split by fuel is more interesting

Fuel type - Sept 18 - Sept 17 - change - % change

Diesel 98,191 170,733 -72,542 -42.5%

Petrol 217,136 232,809 -15,673 -6.7%

Hybrid+electric 23,507 22,628 +879 +3.9%

So fall in volume of diesel cars was 4.6 times the fall in volume of petrol  cars, alternative fuel went up.

diesel in now a lowly 29.0% of sales

this is really frustrating, as i've seen plenty order after and have better dates - our dealer just doesn't seem to care about getting us a car any sooner.  The problem is that the AP has jumped quite a bit and we can't even go to a different dealer now - although i am tempted to try and find a car elsewhere and contact motability and see if they can honor the AP we have ordered at.

You would be as well speaking with Motability today Friday.

No point waiting, thinking about things, i have had them sort out Dealerships in a mater of hours.

Motability & Skoda UK Customer Services is who you want to talk to, or let Motability talk to Skoda UK.

Skoda UK want the Cash Money Motability Pays.

Dealership employees can just not care.

Very strange! I placed my order for a 1.5 TSI DSG SEL on the 1st August and was told to expect it at the end of October! It is a Motability order and I have specified extras but this morning was told by Skoda Chat that it’s expected at my dealers sometime next week. If so, it should be ready for collection w/c 15/10/10 which is 2 and a half months after placing the order!

blame it on BRUSSELS

Well been promised I will be getting a date next week but think it is time to look for alternatives. Can't really wait till next year for it.

And nearly there.....Craig phoned today to say the car is here.....I just happened to me only a few miles away shopping with SWMBO and said I'd pop round to have a look. But unfortunately it's at one of their off site compounds.....so the wait is prolonged a little bit more

He is to phone on Monday.....

Hi,

Myself and my wife ordered a Skoda Karoq SE L DSG 1.6 TDi in Petrol Blue metallic (no options) on the 5th August through Blade Skoda Gloucester using the Motability scheme.

Phil Laitt at the dealer has been wonderful to deal with, giving us weekly video updates etc.

Unfortunately one of the last updates I received said that there was still no build date due to the WLTP regualtions etc.

I got quite concerned then, so I emailed Skoda customer services for more information.

Skoda Customer Services promised a response within 48 hours, six days later having heard nothing I sent them a polite email reminding them about my query.

Two more days passed and having had no response I decided to forward my email to Volkswagen Group CEO Mr Herbert Diess and Skoda UK Director Rod McLeod.

Funnily enough, I had a call from Rod's personal assistant Aneesa Joyce within the hour.

She informed me I would receive another call before the end of the day from their customer relations manager Asmah Hussain.

I did receive the call and the news was not what I wanted to hear, the car did indeed have no build date and we were looking at March/April next year for delivery....

I then told them that I had found a similar spec car held in stock at a Skoda dealer in Salisbury Wiltshire and I wished to cancel the factory order and get this one instead...

This seemed to send a firework through their office they called me the next day to say my car now had a build week of 44 (end October) and we were looking at December for delivery.

Hopefully they stick to their word....

Oliver.

Well ... the good news is I finally get my car on Friday......the bad news is that I have to wait until Friday!
