Fixed price service plan

Recommended Posts

Got a letter from Skoda Finance today confirming the fixed price service plan I purchased at £279 with the new car.

You are entitled to

1 x Oil service

1 x Minor Service

Nothing else in the way of description.

What?? I suspect that means one oil and filter change (only) at 1st service and then next service oil and filter change (hopefully in a minor?) plus a quick look see around the car.

What I naively expected was a minor and a major service.

I fail to see how this is classed as good value.

Skoda servicing is getting more vague at time goes by. No detail is ever given. They have done away with the service booklet and basically now appear to do as little or as much as they please without us being able to check.

This plan is free if you took skoda finance but I paid for it. Anyone know exactly what is/was done?

My Superb is 11 months old and, after being advised on this forum of the two service £279 deal, I tried to take advantage of the offer at the local Skoda agent. They said that they had never heard of it and tried to sell me a much more expensive option.

I was offered it and I bought the service plan, but before doing so, I asked if it could be used at any Škoda agent as we were thinking of moving to a different area at the time.  They checked and confirmed it could be used at any Škoda agent, so your agent should be aware of it.

So if they are actually the 1st fixed / Minor / interim service at 9,400 miles (10,000) 372 days that is the Oil & Filter and look sees.

& at the next 2nd Service,  Major, at the next 9,400 (10,000) 372 days, it is the same as the 1st and a Pollen Filter change.

3 years before Brake Fluid that is not included, or Haldex, 40,000 before DSG, that is an extra cost.

If the service plan was on Variable / Flexible Services each 2 years,  & included the Service Schedule / Guideline items

then that is a big bargain.

But it isnt

You are entitled to

1 x Oil service

1 x Minor Service

Its an Oil service plus a Minor service

Thats what I have an issue with. It does not fit with the old minor/major regime.

Just their words.

1st minor service is only ever really a Oil / Filter change with look sees.

How often is a road test done, or anything really?

But then surely the 'FREE health report', so not just open a bonnet,  and not look at anything like the coolant level,.

then that FREE Vacuum and wash' is included.

Money for old rope.  Not simply fixed, just simply profitable for Dealerships.

I had my second annual service last month and according to my dealer I gained 0.5mm on the rear tyre tread (from 5 last year to 5.5 this year) and I don't have a spare tyre. The latter is probably because they couldn't be arsed to look in the boot where it resides. I know they didn't go in the boot as the rubber roll out bumper protector hadn't moved.

And for the umpteenth time they still can't find the cause of the noise in my rear suspension.

No wash and vac either as it was snowing.

I'm on a 3 year service and 2 MOT plan. Once that finishes I'm back to the VAG specialist I used when I had my Octy.

Service is where the margin is and it’s mostly a plug-in/ swap/ replenish game these days. Taking bits apart to find out what the problem is takes time, costs money...so don’t bother. Just replace. Anything to increase workshop throughput.

Thanks Blowhard for the pic. My letter is identical EXCEPT my entitlement is

1 x Oil service

1 x Minor Service

So I will confront them next week as to why I am getting less for the same price as others!

Blowhard, is yours a new car (under 1 year old). How much did you pay for the service plan (I paid £279) or was it a freebie?

If it's any consolation, I'm on the same Service Plan as you and mine also says 1 x Oil Service & 1 x Minor Service. I had the first of these last week and they didn't even top up the windscreen wash. It did come back nicely washed and vacuumed though although it was pretty clean when it went in. I really just wanted to make sure it has a regular oil change so i'm happy with the plan.

That is good if a Major Service Feb 2019,

Pollen Filter changed, the A/C Service they like to say now required.

Minor service Feb 2020.  & that includes the Brake Fluid Change.

Major Service Feb 2021, Spark Plugs if a Petrol, Air Filter petrol or diesel etc. That A/C Service again.

The dealership serviced the car the day before I collected  it and the mileage was 8764 .

they then offered me the 3 year service deal so I took a look at the price and accepted.

My plan reads franchise dealer service and when I asked what it included they said everything that needs doing in line with Skoda requirements.

Best just pop off a Email to the Dealer Principal so they can reply in writing that the 'Franchise Service, 1,2 & 3',

will be to Skoda Service Schedule / Guidelines and includes the Brake Fluid @ 3 Years, Haldex Service @ 3 Years,

& DSG Oil Change @ 40,000 miles.  (Audi now say 38,000 miles.

After the amount of work my detailer just put in to getting the skating rink out of my 6 month old L&K, I'll be sure to put "DO NOT CLEAN ME" notes all over the car when mine goes in.

After the intervention of Skoda Customer service I finally got my 2 service plan for £279. It seems that the plan is sponsored by VW finance and only available through a Salesperson. If you ask at Service they don't know (or pretend not to) about it and try to sell you a much more expensive option.

Mine came with the 2 year free servicing option, however I can already see an issue looming on the horizon.

it looks like mine has been set up for variable servicing, showing it doesn't need a service for the next 20k *eyeroll* - the document I have states "1 X Minor and 1 X Major service"

Something else to deal with at some point, I expect them to still provide the services as the fact they've PDI'd it wrong isn't my problem.
