Retrofit Cruise Control

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2012 140cr S Estate and would like to fit Cruise Control.

Can anybody tell me if my Steering controller will allow this:

Address 16: Steering wheel (J527)       Labels:| 5K0-953-569.clb
   Part No SW: 5K0 953 521 AN    HW: 5K0 953 569
   Component: LENKS.MODUL   014 0140
   Revision: FF010040    Serial number: 20120104200089
   Coding: 5880040000
   Shop #: WSC 33361 790 00999
   ASAM Dataset: EV_SMLSNGVOLWSXS A01004
   ROD: EV_SMLSNGVOLWS.rod
   VCID: 78FED07CC3D34A86B2-802C

Thanks

Fats

The switches for cruise control are on the indicator stalk, not the steering wheel. A retrofit is going to require a new indicator stalk, the appropriate wiring, and some configuration changes on the engine ECU. There's probably a retrofit kit available from Skoda for this.

Indeed, but the stalks are connected to the steering wheel control module and only some will support cruise control...

Anyway, assuming the rosstech page is correct, the OP's current module should support CC: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Steering_Wheel_Control_Module_Versions#Part_Number_5K0-953-569

Sounds like things have moved on a bit so  When I did the retrofit on my '99 Passat, the stalk was wired straight to the engine ECU.

Langer2K - thanks..I've had a look at RossTech wiki and it would seem, as you say, my Steering controller will accept CC....good news.

With a 2012 Superb is it just a case of swapping over the indicator stalk (removing airbag, etc. etc.) and then recoding the Steering Controller and engine ecu? No further wiring?

Thanks

I'm not sure about the wire.

It might be worth spending some time on https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do to see if there is an extra wire when cruise control is fitted. If there is, you should be able to check the appropriate connector before ordering any parts.

Typically, if they didn't need a wire, it's quite often missing...

Thanks - I shall investigate further.

Sorry to bump this! I'm most likely going to buy a 2011 mk2 1.4tsi superb at the weekend, but it's lacking cruise control.

Hoping to find retrofit solution but various threads from few years ago don't seem to have had much joy. Cab anyone point me towards potential retrofit provider? Based in West Yorkshire but willing to travel.

DM Keith used to do a reasonably priced cruise control retrofit  - had it done by them on my MK I classic Superb at the Bradford dealer a few moons ago. Might not be the sort of thing available these days as many cars already come with it

Cheers for the heads up. Tried them just now, official line is not possible with Superb's first registered after Oct 2010.

Never mind I guess!

@Jhulme
Am sure its possible

Awesome do it for £300 which I am sure you could get the parts cheaper from Ebay

@Tech1e does retrofits😎 on his signature or might be able  to help you with parts🤑

More info

Cheers @DEL80Y I rang Awesome couple of days ago, they said yes they can do it but sometimes there's also a missing control unit (I might be using wrong terminology there!) behind the trim on these superbs so that could double cost. Need to take it in to have it checked, just scouting round for extra knowledge from you guys!

@Tech1e bit far from me to Worcester, but any advice or experience you can give?

you can buy a kit from ebay but its just the stalk and a bit of wire to connect to the ecu

I am sure you could get one locally from a breakers yard

Cheers, but says on that eBay listing only for superbs up to May 2010, I've got a 2011 plate unfortunately!
