Brake pads and Discs life.

Featured Replies

Car is six years old and just passed its mot with the note that the discs are fine and the pads are 25% worn.

Not bad after six years and 85k miles.

Quite pleased with that.

That's good going, all discs on my 2014 34K miles Superb aren't looking brilliant.  Front are scored, rears going that way.  I do a mix of rural and dual carriageway driving.  Could be driving style/weather/road salt, I do try to give my brakes a workout once a week or so in the feeble effort the braking performance will improve.  Currently budgeting for a an upgrade on all four corners....

OEM rotors resisted 160K km while brake pads needed to be replaced at 93K km and 160K km. Now a new Ate set is fitted to my car and the braking efficiency reached 71% while the original value when car was delivered was 58%.

First time got brake pads changed at 180 000 km.

Next service at 330 000 km will bring change of second set of pads and front disks.

Good luck getting such longevity on a 3.6 ... :D

Our fronts lasted 150,000kms, and the rears are about to reach min. thickness at 180,000kms. Mostly city driving.

I just checked the pads on my Greenline, which are the originals from when the car was delivered new to me 6 years ago. Amazed that the fronts have still got about 6mm left and the car has done 120,000 miles. Rears have slightly more. Incredible. :inlove:

Why ? ;) Everything depends on the driving style.
