City Safe option

Featured Replies

It says in the brochure that 'City Safe 'has light and rain sensors. But does it have the radar collision thing too? Also does it have the 'coming home' lights like on my Fabia. Brochure isn't quite clear.

Doesn’t use a radar, uses a camera in the middle of the windscreen.

For lights:

when you unlock it puts the headlights on

however when you come home, you need to push the stalk back (as if you’ve putting full beams on) for it to work.

Thanks Jonny, can't say we'd remember to push the stalk back everytime if we got it.

Yeah I don’t really bother with the coming home ones. I’d prefer it to be automatic once ignition is off for them to stay on for 30 seconds or so.

Ok thanks.

What's the rain sensor like? And has the collision sensor ever kicked in?

Light sensor works perfectly

rain sensor usually works perfectly, sometimes it takes afew goes before it’ll sense the rain (I’ve had to turn it off and on a few times) but once it’s sensing it works more efficiently than my parent’s Civic does. I.e it’ll select the right speed for the amount of rain it’s sensing perfectly.

City safe is a bit hit and miss, most times so far this winter (bearing in mind I’ve only had it since November, so it maybe due to the cold weather?) it’ll through up a message saying Citysafe inactive. So I gotta press the button to deactive it and then reactive it. I’ve never had it kick in though. There’s a video of it in action on YouTube (by carwow I think) showing it sensing a large industrial bin and braking without it touching.

cruise control with full beams (push back towards the windscreen for coming home lights, or parking lights by indicating which way.)

windscreen wipers, shows the sensitivity you want it to work with, mine being on full sensitivity (senses the littlest of rain drops).

a little video;

I was bored as I wanted to clean the car but the weather stopped play!

City safe sensor is in front of rear view mirror. If window is frozen city safe cannot work.

I'm not a huge fan of rain sensors. Wiper blades needs to be in perfect condition all the time. If not, then sensor think there water on windscreen even when there's not. I wouldn't pay anything extra for rain sensor. Almost better without.

I’m total opposite, I think auto wipers are a must have, makes driving easier.

Very interesting to see a button next to the tyre pressure. Is that traction control on/off? And why haven't  I got one!!!?

Would have been very useful to allow a bit of wheelspin to get off a sloping snowy driveway this year instead of the car thinking "uh-oh, wheelspin" and cutting the drive to the wheel.

Unfortunately it’s not traction control, although I see where your coming from, I also thought it was when the car arrived :D

its the citysafe button to de-activate or activate it.

Ah, thanks for that. I feel better now.

Is the airbag switch part of the City Safe package? And what's the point of having an off switch for City Safe collision sensor?

Banger racing?

Might be needed if you go to car wash, or if you carry something on the roof. If memory serves what owner's manual says.

Citysafe button is there for when your meant to manually de activate it in certain conditions mentioned in the handbook. From what I remember snow and ice was one I’m sure.

Passenger Air bag de-activation is standard on all cars now?

No option to disable passenger air bag on my SE L. Must be part of the city safe package?

Snow and ice isn't a problem for city safe. If it can't "see" it just doesn't work until snow and ice melt.

This is the problem with the Skoda brochure, price list and configurator; it's ambiguous and 'Simply Confusing'. Even the sales woman at the dealership wasn't entirely sure what was in the 'City Safe' package which is daft.

Citysafe sensor switch

just checked the configurator and it doesn’t show what you get with Citysafe. I’m sure it used to tell you!? Maybe there updating?

City Safe costs £355 but no mention of collision sensor or airbag switch.

The collision sensor is classed as Citysafe.

States “Citysafe with(...)” meaning you get Citysafe along with auto lights and rain sensor

Ahh I see,thanks.

Just a thought; I know we are not talking Bentley levels of peronalisation here, but surely an outlay of 12k should entitle you to a clear understanding of what you're buying and, at a bare minimum, what comprises the various pack options?

I was pleased to get more than anticipated, but that's beside the point. It would also be surprising if someone from Skoda UK's marketing team was not monitoring this site; standard practice elsewhere.

Afterthought!

I shouldn't loose sight of the fact that I've just bought my 2nd Citigo because it's the best car in its class.
