Connect and Alexa - new "skill"

Featured Replies

We don't have Connect but just had this email from skoda.com:

"ŠKODA Connect is introducing a new interface to its portfolio. Amazon’s successful smart voice assistant, Alexa, is currently helping millions of users with shopping, cooking, transportation, access to music as well as assisting them with their daily routines and entertainment.

Our new specific Alexa Skill branded as ŠKODA Connect allows communication using specific voice commands.

You will be able to ask Alexa specific questions about your ŠKODA, including:

  • Car lock Status
  • Mileage left to drive with current fuel level
  • Doors and windows open/close status
  • Mileage
  • Lights on/off status
  • Last parking position of your car
  • Long term consumption
  • Average speed of your last trip
  • Average fuel consumption of your last trip
  • Distance of your last trip
  • Next inspection date and distance
  • Car health report

This list however is evolving and can change over time to allow for even greater access to your vehicle information in the future.

Please bare in mind that the ŠKODA Connect Skill is in a Beta Test Phase. Therefore some information received via the voice assistant may vary or not be available. We are consistently working on improvements of the Skill.

In order to ask about the status of your car you have to be in range of the Alexa enabled speaker and activate her by saying:
“Alexa, ask ŠKODA...” and continue by asking your required question.

For more details about the services and support please refer to your regular ŠKODA Connect support channels e.g. www.skoda-connect.comand also see the tutorial video about the ŠKODA Connect Alexa Skill."

Matters not to me - we have Google Home. I suppose they see Alexa as easily market leader, and rightly so.

Personally I don't like it when a brand opts for one platform. But call me picky :D

That looks quite comprehensive.

Just received the same email. Hopefully they'll introduce the same functionality to Google at some point.

Will have to try as my car connects to the home wifi when on the drive !!

Not sure I've ever wanted to know any of these things whilst away from the car.... But I suppose some will find it useful!

Google do not seem to have the same functionality that Alexa has, skills, routines etc.

i have both devices, google better at searches but Alexa at Home Automation and now cars.

Not for me. Amazon is omnipresent and way too big already. It will be a struggle, but I'm sure I can do without Alexa in my life.

I got that email too, but is NO USE to me at all as I didn't opt for Skoda connect.

Tried it.

It works.

Not sure how it linked the accounts to log in to connect.

Just noticed the spelling mistake in the email and that's annoyed me.

"Please bare in mind"?

It is dreadful how big companies can let such errors slip through.

That's the one.

quite easily - if spell check doesn't identify it as a mis-spelling, then they don't notice valid words which aren't quite the write ones

Perhaps they keep the correct spelling for Kodiaq owners.

Meanwhile, Alexa overheats when asked if a bare can **** in the woods...
