Swing radio in 05 reg causes battery drain

Featured Replies

I've upgraded the radio in my 05 plate 1.9 TDi estate from a Stream (non-mp3) to a Swing headunit I picked up on ebay (taken from a Yeti) it fits perfectly and works as it should. But it drains the battery, looks like it's not going to low power mode with the rest of the car. I've pulled the fuse to check it is the radio and it is.

Will a CAN gateway upgrade sort the issue as it does with bolero and similar headunits?

What CAN gateway will I need to upgrade to?

I have VCDS so can re-code a new gateway no problem

Yes a new can gateway is needed.

On an 05 it's dead easy as it's just behind the glove box. It can be done in well under an hour.

mclarc,

I have also fitted a swing radio in my 2005 octavia, but i'm missing a lot of info on the radioscreen - dont you ?

I mean the PDC and info from climate control. As far as i have investigated, i have to upgrade current PDC with OPS, and also a new climate control unit, to have the info from clima showed on the radioscreen. And from what i read around the net, my ECU (EDC16U1) does not support the newer climate control panels, so for that to work i also have to put in another ECU, and then its just getting to much of a job.

But if you managed to get everything to work, i would be very int. in knowing how you did ? :)
