Let us know when you find the pressure sensor...

The problem with the car has been diagnosed by local Skoda dealer and attended to. It seems a wire was not secured running past the handbrake and was abraded. Although I don't know for sure, I imagine it was from the rear offside wheel sensor. Any way all is well again after more than a thousand miles.

Why Simpsons of Preston could not find this fault, I don't know. They said it was the ABS pump! Glad I didn't follow up on that! They are also strangers to the truth. I would advise all Skoda owners to give them a wide berth unless you've got money to waste.

Thanks for the advice given.

It is funny, what seems an obvious fault CAN elude people! I had a hole in a turbo hose once, on an MG Montego. Dealer fixed it, I paid, it still blew! They looked again, couldn't locate the breach, said I should look to save money as it could be anywhere...

I got home, raised the bonnet, lent in, but my hand on the first hose nearest me and as I felt it, there was a hole, the size of a pen barrel, in the hose.

Dealer didn't have one stocked, week or so wait. Got piece of hose from local DIY/auto store for a few quid and the car went like I stole it, after that!

Dunno how they missed the issue!

Funnily, I was reading someone else having ABS issue and a chaffed or snapped wire, under rear door strip, if I remember correctly.
