how comfortable are the front seats on a Mark Three Fabia?

Featured Replies

I was given a Mark Three Fabia as a loan car last October when my car was being serviced I was thinking of changing to one of these next year.  I liked most things about the car but my wife and I both found the front seats to be really uncomfortable. Specifically, there was a gap at the back and even  with the seat bolt upright the gap was still there. I couldn't see myself doing a long run in those seats which was disappointing as I liked the car otherwise.  I don't remember seeing a lumbar support at all . I would have used it if I had seen one. My Fabia Mark Two tsi has much more comfortable seats and I do wonder whether a visit to the scrap yard  would transform the seating? That seems like going backwards however to me, not going forwards and would be loath to go down that route.  Are all Mark Three Fabia seats like that or do some of the special editions have better seating?  Thanks.

Maybe if you opt for the sport seats, like those found on Monte Carlo trim it would be better. I have those seats, and I drove for more than 10 hours in one day, and did´t have any problems with them. It really depends on how tall are you.

I think you answered your own question.

You say you and your wife found the seats uncomfortable so, unless you try the sports seats ( Monte Carlo) and like those, the Fabia is not for you, which is a pity as they are a very nice car to own.

We've  had 2 Mk2's and a Mk1 and my wife and I have found the seats in the Mk 111 equally as comfortable.

You have to try out cars before you buy as one size doesn't fit all.

I agree with Horkin. You must be comfortable in any new car you buy otherwise you must look elsewhere. I'd go back to your Skoda dealer and have a chat about the seats. Try a showroom model for comfort and really look hard to see what the problem is/was. The salesman can probably help with properly identifying the issue and may be able to make a suggestion or two. Just maybe you didn't have the seats quite correctly positioned, the seat back not right either or the height may have been wrong or all three of those things. They don't need to be out by much to cause discomfort for most of us. The Mk3's dimensions are a little different inside and out, bigger, but with the correct steering position you should be able to get comfortable I'd have thought. Don't forget to adjust the steering position for rake and height also! I've got to say, like Horkin, that my Mk3 is easily as comfortable in the seat and every other department as the Mk2's that's I've had so I'm guessing this is something a bit basic that is causing you this issue. Good luck in trying to solve it. Do come back and tell us what you find out eventually.

I personally find the seats in my Fabia SE to be more comfortable than the seats in my parents' Rapid SE Sport (same seats as in the Fabia Monte Carlo). But that's just me. As Harry said, one size doesn't fit all and different people like different seats.

My 19 stone lard a**e is completely happy to travel the 100+ miles and 2 hour journey from my home to Edinburgh in a ultra basic fabia III S.

If anything the seat is more comfy than the A3 'sport' I had before.

I had 3 Fabia mark 2s and now a mark 3.  I think the seats in the mark 2s were far more comfortable than those in the mark 3.  The current ones seem quite hard to me but the mark 2 seats were far softer and suited me better.

Absolutely one size does not fit all!   In my case a Roomster II (same seats as Fabia II) but I found the seats very uncomfortable.  I likened the experience to sitting in an old settee on which the springs had failed.  I felt I sank too far into the seat, such that the roll on the front of the squab dug into the underside of my thighs, and the raised section at the rear of the squab dug into my coccyx.  I found the seats in my pre-facelift Roomster Scout hugely more comfortable.

On the other hand, I felt instantly at home in the seat of a Fabia III.  In fact I felt so comfortable in it that I nearly bought a Combi III instead of a Yeti.

As others have said, you really do have to try cars out before you buy.  Good luck with your search.

It's not only the seats which make you feel comfortable or not, it is also about the position of the steering wheel and the pedals. So  the same chairs in another carmodel can feel completely different. Before my Fabia III, I drove a 2003 Fabia I, and that had the worst wheelchairs I ever owned. After a few months, I replaced the original seats with the seats from a 2005 Seat Ibiza FR (3-doors), and exchanged also the backseat, This was 'plug and play' and gave a huge improvement, due to better support of the upper legs. Where the original chairs in the Fabia I already failed after driving for half an hour, the chairs of the Fabia III are okay for me after driving for a few hours.
