There we go all shiny.

Have a biscuit.

I used a product I found on the 'Bay" Which cost a few quid, (Maybe three) Called K2 Pro lamp doctor. It worked very well using a cordless drill and a buffing pad, I obtained from Halfords, for convenience. I did play to spray clear coat lacquer on afterwards but have not done it yet..

This was an o 2002 Toyota Yaris, which seem particularly prone to this issue so I was well pleased with the result so far!

In a pinch, clean the lenses with brake fluid or transmission fluid/power steering fluid just prior to an MOT as it will clear the glass temporarily to do the job but won't last more then a few rainy days/car washes. Be sure not to get the fluid on to the paint, though!

Helpful assistant at Halfords advised to use toothpaste and elbow grease, it works well enough.

I explained this before on a post but will explain it again, background of information was from my father a very senior chemical scientist/abrasives expert for 3M and worked very closely with Skoda and very well respected by those car factors, Volvo too........(although he wasn't in the aftermarket like this but engine finishes etc, bringing 3m finesse products to the car industry).

There is no permanent fix on these poly lenses he said to me, asked the reason why they dull again after time is because polish carries base oils that conceal the scratches !

This is why 3m repair procedure doesnt just finish with just abrasives you have to use equivalent of alco wipes or whatever it was he mentioned ( perhaps isoprop I can't remember).
This reveals all the scratches etc you haven't really repaired.......and likely removed whatever protective coating was originally over the plastic too so more susceptible to damage.

So basically you will be constantly polishing them once they fail like this, although this is pretty reasonable for most of us. Need to either do mine, or replace the lenses, or with my recent turbo failure just scrap it lol. Can't face that though lol so probably not

Have just finished doing mine, started with 120 on drill pad, should have started with 250 because it took some time to get the 120 scores out of the headlamp, continued with 400, 800, 1000, 1500 2000, 3000 then gave it  four sprays of 2 part clearcoat, should have stopped at 3 sprays as I have ended up with some orange peel which I will leave for a month and cut back with wet sanding. If you want it to last for years use 2 part clearcoat I used spray Maxx 2k clearcoat, its expensive but will last for years. I would recommend you also carry out any repairs needed on the vehicle at the same time as the clearcoat will only last in the can between 2-18 days at 20 degrees after it's mixed. Sorry, don't have the tech know how to send a pic.
