Roomster Tow Bars

Featured Replies

I'm sure I've read about tow bars on the site before, but its not coming up on search.

So, who's had a tow bar fitted to a Roomster.

Can you give me your advice and helpful guidelines regarding them. Thanks.

I had the removable one fitted from the factory as part of the car order. I've had no issues with it but I only use it to tow my little camping trailer, as in my avatar photo on the left here or to attach a tow bar bike rack to. The only comment I really have is it is only 50kg nose weight.

Thanks Aubrey.  I did find more when I put the search in Google, it took me  to this site.

There was a good pic' of Manni's car with tow bar fitted.

Had one fitted by a local specialist. Only advice I have is make sure you get back the chassis cross member they remove when they fit it. You may need to remove the bar at some future date.

That's something you probably would not think of, thanks B.

I never got mine with the car. Remember if you did remove the towbar there would still be the rear bumper cut.

Out of interest, why would you remove it ? All I can think of is selling the car on, without the towbar - would that occur ?

More than likely, not. :wondering:

That cross member is really usefull to dealers and bodyshops as it is the second thing needed replacement in a slightly rear ended car. First one is the bumper. Then is that metal cross member that bends in the middle absorbing this way the crash's force. And it is not cheap. So, if you leave it there, pure profit to their pocket.

Makes sense, it is yours I guess. I just checked eBay and 5J7807305E sells for about £35.
