Problems removing headlamp -pre-FL

Featured Replies

Trying to remove the headlamps so I can remove the bumper. Left headlamp came out ok but was damaged anyway. Tried to release the right headlamp by using the release lever but no movement at all - feels like the headlamp carrier has siezed in place.

Any guidance on freeing up the carrier, please?

You did remove the white plastic nut...

Either give the underside where the sliding lock mechanism is a squirt of penetrating fluid or just find something to hook on the end of the hook and give it a good jerk, dog lead, small chain, rope with a loop on the end, you get the idea.

One of mine was seized and took a good pull.

Same here WD40 and dog lead did the trick. The hook is quite sturdy.

Or try using a pair of pliers to pull the lever.

I'm glad you chimed in, I was trying to keep it simple with basic everyday tools and not suggest a slide hammer.

I must admit this option has a certain appeal (sounds like an invitation to a kinky party) but I went for the more mundane but completely effective option of wd40 and pliers. Worked a treat, much to my relief!

Thanks for the prompt advice, guys - much appreciated. I suspect I'll be back for more as the job proceeds.

PS Yes, I had removed the plastic nut first ;)
