Right, i can gladly confirm that I've binned it all that crap...been out for a drive gave it good pushing and car drove like ****...so definitely lesson learnt...buy cheap buy twice. Had similar story with Ramair induction kit on my mk2 vrs....ended up selling it 2 weeks later.

I know I'm probably hacked off now but I'm going to leave air intake/turbo inlets for time being. Waiting for cat back system from Germany and then jb4 that will be me...well i always say it😂

I installed the Leyo air intake system together with a turbo elbow from BMS (elite range), goes very well together with the JB4. Fitment was perfect as well - FL 2020 2.0 L&K here.

There’s a racing line elbow and intake pipe on the bay of evil at the minute with a claimed 1600miles for £150 or offers.

Just seen it...very tempting...👀 but I'll resist for now...

Interesting to read these type of topics.

I read haven’t a clue on the mechanical side of things.

Are parts like these just for petrol turbo engines?

It’ll depend on each individual unit as to what’s available. You can gets items for petrol and diesel, generally depending on popularity across the ranges. The more popular a unit is the more likely aftermarket manufacturers are to produce up rated parts for it. It’ll all come down to cost to design and produce against the potential sales available for the product. That ea888 units potential sales are massive throughout the VAG group, so it has a lot of aftermarket upgrades available.

Legally spaced the rear plate and put it on 19" VRS wheels. Much as the 20s were forged and technically brilliant, the style was a bit marmite.

Legally spaced the rear plate and put it on 8j 19" et45 octavia VRS wheels with pirellis. Much as the 20s were forged and technically brilliant, the style was a bit marmite, these are a lot more oem obviously (even though I don't believe technically ever offered on the superb)

Think I prefer those wheels. Was the plate expensive?

Olney Square is looking strangely quiet. Normally rammed most days I've been.

Had a bum week last week.

Monday, 69 plate L&K 190 diesel estate in for second (20,000 mile) service and advised of oil leak beetween engine and gear box, so today and tomorrow, no wheels.  Has anyone else any similar problem?

Also battery tested as not up to par so to be tested again today, and possibly to be replaced.

Thursday, building roof take off by wind.

Friday, a puncture - screw intyre shoulder so replaced.

Hopefully thats the sequence of three completed!

Just my opinion, but that looks so much smarter than those awful wheels you had on it last time. Much much better. 😂

Ouch. Even though inconvenient I guess the car work is under warranty so no financial hit? Not so lucky with the house / puncture unless you're claiming under insurance.

Snap with the puncture. I was changing wheels & replacing a tyre on my wife's car after she picked up a nail on Sunday. First time she has driven the car in over 3 months!

They've ripped up the high Street as the potholes at the pinch point outside the Swan were getting out of hand, so the high Street between the square and souls is closed!

I got the plate straight from DVLA, I never buy plates privately. I have a knack for finding interesting ones that noone else has discovered. I put BA53ARD on the 5er..

So how does the traffic get through the high street? Surely not a diversion around the back of the square which would never take the size of the lorries that come through there. Rush hour through Olney is not good at the best of times so right now must a complete nightmare.

The car is under the extended warrant program so no money hit on that, justr the inconvenience, and looking at an unusally emoty driveway.  The roof is another matter - 50 year old corrugated and not insured, but just thinking on the savings I've mad over thyears makes it feel better.

@cmp1951 sounds like your rear main seal has gone.

When you get it back make sure you pay attention to any suspension noises over the following few weeks. My Passat had this issue and when fixed there was some serious banging from the suspension on hard cornering. Turns out they hadn't fully tightened all the subframe bolts upon reassembly

Correct, so there's a closed warning at the top of the dual carriageway (Chicheley roundabout), and for those that continue on, a checkpoint at emberton asks where you're off to. It's possible to cut right at the church and get around the back of town if you know how to get about.

Drove it back into my postcode a few hours later.

Quite enough driving for this quarter.

Tut Tut. ;)

Must admit the most I've done is in the last few months is an 8 mile round trip to the nearest Tesco to click / collect groceries every other Friday. Hardly the stuff of dreams. I think I've filled up twice since March 2020!

To answer the question of this thread title: actually... nothing.

I was decided to have 2 of my summer tyres changed for Michelin PS4 (235/40/19 96Y) before I swap winter and summer wheels by the end of this month. I went this afternoon to a local retailer, but... I could not order them! Tyres not available from supplier!  Strange!

I did not have a look yet to potential other online retailers, but this sounds strange to me... I'am assuming that since lockdown and home office has spread other many countries, cars miles or kilometres on the clock are not increasing as usual and Michelin may have decided to slow down their production lines to avoid oversized stocks...

Do you face the same problem in your own countries?

Due to Covid, lockdown & work from home directive most people's average private vehicle mileage is definitely much lower than normal. My wife has only filled up her car with fuel once since March 2020!!

Today I had to wait for tyres to be sourced from elsewhere for my wife's Fiat 500. The 500 has not got any special size tyres but none of the local tyre fitting centres seemed to have any suitable size tyres in stock which was a problem cos it has an MOT booked for Friday.

Normally I would buy a mid range price tyre but nothing doing, nobody had any stock. In the end the only tyres I could get today were Pirelli's & the tyre fitter had to drive 50 miles to get them! Because I was buying 4 tyres, & I wouldn't normally have had Pirelli's, I managed to get a discount. They also threw in free tyre puncture / replacement insurance for 12 months, free wheel alignment on the 500 & 8 free alignment checks (over 2 years) for my car as well. All in the cost for 4 tyres including fitting was £380. It was fairly obvious that they didn't want to loose my business by not having the tyres I wanted so sweetened the deal to stop me going elsewhere.

Whether the tyre availability issue was due to covid or not I don't know but reduced mileage is affecting tyre sales, fuel sales & many other automotive related businesses. Even insurance companies are offering cashback on their car premiums if you don't do your normal amount of annual mileage.

Love how it looks without the lettering. Less is more.
