Couple of bits to fit this week,

new coolant tank as I’m getting the low coolant flashing light on cold start.

going to fit a new gearbox mount as I’m getting a lot of movement on the original mounts, especially as it’s original and 15 years old off the doner. Along with some solid gear shifter bushes while the air filters out.

then Mot in next couple of weeks

Dent removal day today, she had built up loads of various dings over its nearly 20 years and a small crease in bonnet. Bonnet was a challenge for the dent removal guy but came out well and all the others were no problem.

Did you do this yourself or get a professional in?

Cost?

Pro, as well beyond me.

i thought pretty cheap £400 as there was probably 12 little dinks   Plus the weird crease in bonnet

Fitted some bits I’ve had for a while, new gearbox mount as I’ve had a lot of movement from that side and engine rocking causing dump valve to knock on strut brace.

Dogbone mount was virtually new so thought I’d change gearbox first.

It was obvious that the 15year old mount was past its best when removed, the rubber wasn’t split but it was very easy to move and flex it even with just my fingers.

Also fitted some draft 42 solid shifter mounts while I was in the area.

Some big updates this year exciting times. Was contemplating selling again but honestly couldn’t replace the bang for buck with this and obviously my man hours involved with her.

No chance silly prices, 1.8t’s ample for me

I was only joking, can only imagine how good it must be to drive your 1.8t,can't understand why they were never factory made.

A tidy little collection of upgrades there Trevor. The diff will make the world of difference (pardon the pun).

Nice one Trevor, as Lofty said some good stuff you got there, I could do with some better struts as well.

Looking forwards to further posts on this tidy lot.

I’ve fitted the forge one before and not noticed much difference but I can actually feel this one, does make it stiffer at the rear ooo err

Rear brace looks just the job!

How is it bolted to the shell Trevor?

It’s rivnutted in, you just need to drill the holes, top two are into the bracket that attaches straight to the strut top and bottom one goes into the triangle brace that goes arch-boot floor. They supply the rivnuts and a manual tool for fitting them.

ive had the forge one before and didn’t notice any difference, wasn’t expecting anything with this other then looking good. But could feel it was stiffer straight away

Brought some new rear springs for the scale coilovers as the old  ones were really crusty and the powdercoat started to come off when I cleaned them.

4 days delivery from the states,

just the front shocks left to clean up then it’ll be ready for fitting

Got the suspension pretty much done just one front left as I ran out of time, sits at a good height and set them for two clicks off softest to see how it goes, also fitted new exhaust mounts to the back box. I’ll finish off tomorrow and give her a service too well overdue

Suspension all done, been for a blast and all seems fine, it’s actually really comfy, more so then the eibachs and polo gti shocks.

Also serviced her as I’ve not changed the oil since the engine went in although she’s only done just under 6k.
