Voice Commands

Featured Replies

What are the commands for the Octavia voice control system? Model is 2015 reg and voice control of the phone is best described as random. Phone works fine on infotainment touch buttons but asking to call a contact normally (>95%) calls the wrong number. My accent is fairly non-descript standard English.

I've not seen an voice control system even in 2018 that works well when it is not connected to the internet.

Without some kind of Learning algorithm which you will get with internet connected voice control (like Siri, Alexa & Cortana) it cannot adapt to your accent/style.

Its pretty obvious it will be rubbish as it doesnt even have a "training" routine or any way to correct it when it gets your choice wrong.

For me, its much eaiser to dial using the maxidot (phone button on steering Wheel then scroll through your last numbers) or to setup the favourites on the Entertainment system.

The voice commands are rubbish. I never bother using them if I want something done as they are laughable and they include tasks that you can perform using the steering wheel buttons. Siri on the other hand is very accurate and has learned my North Wales farmer accent very well :D

Unless you are using Android Auto or Car Play then forget Voice Commands exist.

Yes, but somewhere there must be a list of words that the system might recognise. I fully understand that it won't know about giraffes (or maybe it does?) But if I use "call" and the system expects "ring" then no wonder if won't work for me. Come on Skoda rep who may read this, where is a listing of vocabulary?

Do you have 'voice command' button on the steering wheel or on the side of the head unit?  I think if you press that a list of supported commands are presented on the infotainment screen.

you're spot on, the button does indeed bring up a list of sample phrases for phone, nav etc

I was hoping it might actually be written down in a document. Sort of a list so-to-speak. There are lots of manuals for the car, why not one for the voice control?

i have the same issue! google works fine (so it doz) but waze wont even try for me, so it wont!

Ok, after a month or 3 nobody from Skoda has actually written down and published a list of commands available to voice control. This is most unusual. If you want somebody to use something then you need to tell them how. Trial and error (mostly error) with a variety of accents/words is not very helpful. The command list available on the in-car displays are next to useless. Yes, I'm all to aware that my names for my contacts will be ever so slightly idiosyncratic but voice recognition software should have more-or-less come to grips with that. Please, please can somebody in Skoda send a list of possible command words?

Have you tried contacting a Skoda dealer? :call:

I tried voice commanding my stereo/radio. Once.

This place is for Skoda enthusiasts.  I'm not aware of Skoda reps frequenting the forums to dig out requests.  See @gregoir's suggestion above.
