Unless we’re going to start taking inflation and other such forces into account, simply comparing a current price to an historic one doesn’t really tell us much.

If they have the same engine easy to compare.

Do you know the price difference between the Original 245 and the present one.?

I would think its a price increase for less goodies.  I would think the FL 230 was more expensive than my Pre FL 230 again for less goodies

Yup...

19" Extreme Alloys

Electric alcantara heated front seats

Front and rear parking sensors

folding mirrors

The OTR price for the old one was £28,090, new one is £26,965

I think part of the confusion is you’re not comparing the same thing. To me, the specs have gone as follows..

P-FL 220 - FL 230 - FL 245 (what’s on sale now)

P-FL 230 SE - FL 245 SE

The ones I’ve called ‘SE’ are the models with the extra goodies, as standard over the regular base model.

Glad to see you've got your car @Scotty72 it has twin exhausts & are happy with it.

I'd agree with you about the folding wing mirrors, I've previously cancelled an order over it.

Electric seats are a neccesserty for anyone with lumbar issues, that manual lumbar support adjuster had about 2 positions I could get it to stay in & neither was comfortable for me.

Regards the 19"/18" debate, I've been there. I brought & refurbed a set of Gemini's before getting my MY17 vRS245 & I'd have probably run them too. However, due to family holiday I ran the 19" for 10 days before switching to the 18", the 18" only stayed on the car a week, to say I didn't like them was an understatement.

Enjoy your car

List price for the high spec Limited Edition 245 was £27,595 but I had 4 options on my car which retailed at about £1,800 but obviously I didn't pay retail for them just £505.

Sorry to sound a bit negative but anyone with a high spec (electric seats & folding mirrors to name 2) limited edition original 245 is not going to trade their car in after 2 or 3 years for 18"alloys, chrome exhaust tips and manual seats after experiencing the luxury and special feel of the 2017 (MY18) model that I have been enjoying for the last 15 months. Without the twin silencer boxes someone not familiar with the Vrs Octavia could think you bought the diesel until you start it up.

Thanks for sounding so negative, its ok Skoda teased you all with a special edition 245.. mine is the replacement for the 230 I'm not pretending otherwise.

Err correction see below I don't think so.. LOL Can we put the p*ssing around with one exhaust talk to bed now please? Tell me what you can see? LOL

Heres something I noticed today sat in a MY19 in the showroom, the button for the interior alarm sensors isnt there on the B pillar anymore. Bit random. Also the seats are a slightly different shape, with some soft alcantara type material replacing the fale leather that used to crumble and crack but the main part of the seat is that same nylon type scratchy stuff as before!

No sensor off button on my 2017 VRS.

@Scotty72 congratulations! Its been a long time coming it seems, the red looks great and Im a much bigger fan of those seats than the ones in my my16. No more worries about destroying the bolster pleather.

Come on then tell us more! Any surprises on the spec? Did you get an umbrella? Tell us stuff for the love of god man!!!!!

The mirrors appear heated from the symbol above the adjuster.. but obviously not folding as I wasn't paying for full price options full stop. I haven't checked for the umbrella I'll have to go see. I was too busy emptying out our old car of stuff, fitting my son's carseat and pairing my phone with the infotainment earlier. The rear park pilot is quite cool and needed for big rear end but then this modern tech stuff is all new to me.

I paid £28,100 for my 245 in August 2017 including Black Magic paint, electric sunroof, reversing camera, spare wheel, EFM, EHS, front/rear parking sensors, lane assist and 19" Black Extremes. I priced up the new model and it was well over £30,000 to the same spec.B)

I have paid a fair chunk less than 28k for my my19 with dsg, reversing camera, dcc, folding mirrors, a vrs colour  and heated seats.  Price is all relative! You only pay for whats available at the time.

Price is all relative, I've not paid a penny currently for mine :) granted I'll be giving it back in 2 years

Electric parking brakes can be a RPITA when they malfunction and stick on, never had any problems with a good old fashioned manual one.

Quite happy not to have a e-handbrake to deal with. Used them in a few cars and its just not natural.

Completely threw me Porsche put one on the latest boxster when I drove one. BTW latest DSG is still better then PDK in terms of a dual clutch gearbox :)

I’m picking mine up on Friday, first planned changes are switching to PS4’s and some VCDS tweaks - HBA, cornering fogs etc

I'd be genuinely interested to know which VCDS adaptions can be done. However I really don't want to change anything on my car as I don't own it. Had a nice letter from Skoda finance saying hi yesterday but reminding me of this basically :) To me I'm already a little overwhelmed trying to learn what it's got already lol Yesterday my first proper chance to drive mine despite the terrible weather and tons of standing water I'm not sure that I have any complaints :) The standard Bridgestones seemed just fine given the weather too. I did a couple of drives one trip around lunchtime by myself I averaged 23mpg and the other longer one I averaged 34.8mpg (eco mode with family ). I'm not sure how any of you vRS petrol folks can get 40+ mpg

Try taking it on the M3 and A303 and leave it at around the 60-70mph mark, you should get it quite readily.

I'm hoping to activate High beam assist, Cornering Fogs, Auto close windows when raining, Front wipers auto park, Tear drop wipe front and rear and Traffic Sign Recognition.

I don't think there's anyone local to me with VCDS so have to sort a trip to see someone, or get it bought.

On the tyres, my current TDI had the Bridgestones from factory and they were OK. When I needed replacements I took the advice offered on here and went for the PS4's and they were much better, and a bit quieter too. I'm hoping to sell the Bridgestones to recoup some of the cost.

If you have a DSG, you'll probably find you get better economy in normal rather than eco. In eco it constantly drops into neutral and the engine idles but in normal, it stays in gear and in the same situations the wheels keep the engine turning and fuel is shut off. The biggest gain is always from anticipation and coasting to a stop rather than using brakes. Every time you touch the brake, that's a little bit of mpg thrown away.

Thanks and noted on the dsg stuff and driving mode, personally I prefer the way it drives in normal with more engine braking meaning less touching the brakes in any case. It's my first dsg or auto box ever, always owned manuals before and it was easy to get better mpg that way. :) the concept is the same drive like a granny and keep momentum going to achieve best mpg lol the comment was almost half joking because I didn't get the petrol vRS for ultimate economy because I don't need that. However I am genuinely interested in learning what settings work best for mpg besides my driving style so any tips really are appreciated.

Btw I ride motorbikes and have done for more than 20 years and until recently daily all year round commuting in London the last 18 years, reading the road and observation are part and parcel of this.
