Got me thinking should be able to convince VW Group to change MK8 Golf to the VW Gimp with the above tag line.:D

You seem to have the bottle to go for the Meteor Grey, initially I went for it, but then when I said about it to SWMBO she didn't like it and then when I actually saw it on an Octy, I then had doubts about it and then changed it to the lovely Race Blue, but I have retrained the grey seating this time.

If I'm in a similar position in three and a half years time then I may choose a different colour, maybe Rallye Green or something like a red. I try not to think about what the future holds for the time being.

The vrs in the showroom is in race blue, its an estate version. I was sat next to it while I was looking at numbers and although I used to really like that colour on the VRS it seemed a little ordinary. I think maybe it didnt suit the estate or the context. I have always had white but again Ive gone off that too. I was sat next to a dragon yellow superb, now theres a colour I would have went for!

Do you mean when parked? Otherwise I've found the climate control has been able to keep the cabin cool on both of the black VRSs I've had.

it's when parked up, found darker cars get hot quicker, and when you start a journey take longer to cool down.

I'm sure that's true to some extent, I've just never found it an issue in eight years of running black VRSs.  When choosing the colour for my 245 it didn't even enter my thoughts after owning a black Mk2 for 7 years.

You never fancied a change?? I agree when perfectly cleaned to hide the swirls and hazing black is amazing. I always got white because it hides an untold amount of scratches and blemishes but after 4 white cars Ive decided to move. Bearing in mind we have seagulls that can strip your laquer with turds within a 24 gour period up here lol

I signed for my order today! Went for a meteor grey with grey stitching. Ticked the options box for DSG, virtual cockpit, reversing camera, heated front seats (may be a problem with that, will find out soon hopefully), heated folding mirrors, spave saver wheel and DCC. Came with 2 services included as well. Got a good pricefpr my VRS (estimated for march sort of time).

Im happy with the deal, just need to sit back and wait about 6 months to get it!

Its not nosey, they are cold hard numbers available straight off the calculator on the website lol. Altogether without discounts the cash price would be approx £30,700 including the extras. Which is a hell of a lot of money for a Skoda :tongueout:

Mine was £28,100 14 months ago including Black Magic Pearl, Electric Sunroof, Reversing Camera and spare wheel, but some items were standard then, which seem to be optional now. Same spec now for my manual car would be around £30,000, so Skoda being a bit greedy.:giggle:

My sentiments exactly, theres a few things missing. I was suprised to see that Skoda have lost out again and havent got the electric handbrake either.

Limited choice on the 245 when I bought mine, otherwise would have had a change. White and grey don't work for me so it was black or solid red.

It is always interesting to see what other have paid for their car and what discounts they got as well off of list price. I am no expert when it comes to the Skoda finance offers on PCP. Carwow can get you money off there is no doubt about it but the best deals are always the ones that include the PCP, however there is always a catch to the Skoda PCP deals at present as they are you an APR% on the outstanding balance so it you were to buy a standard manual VRS at £ 26965 on PCP over 3 years at 10000miles per year and buy the car at the end of this period you pay £29488 and wave buy buy to that £2500 skoda discount that they gave you to take out this deal. It only works if you take the PCP and pay the car off straight away if you of course are wanting your car as a keeper.

I do miss my VRS and I watch these forums constantly but I can't help thinking that it cost me £24500 for mine when I bought it in 2014 and now would cost me over £29000 for a similar specked car.:worried:

Its a losing battle for sure. Im fortunate that I am able to have these cars but I dont tend to think of them in terms of overall cost as I will never end up owning one. I treat them like any other monthly bill and need to be happy with what that figure is. I only do 7000 miles a year, I havent paid for anything other than tyres and servicing for 6 years, no brakes or exhausts or anything. I have managed to get some equity back on my current VRS, I am paying a low deposit and without my extras I put on there I could have walked away paying less than I do now. However I need certain things from a car, it needs to be relaible and predictable. I keep within warranty periods so I know I have fixed costs etc. The idea of owning my current VRS outside of warranty is something that does not appeal. This all makes overall costs a non concern for me really. Im just annoyed I couldnt get 0% again!

I quite liked the corrida red, I havent had a red car for about 15 years so it would have been a nice change. Ive had white cars for the last 6 or so years so Im set in my ways!

Was tempted by the red but I think I thought red seat stitching followed naturally...and didn't fancy that....so Black it was. IIRC correctly way back when I got my MK2 I nearly went for bright yellow, but decided stealth was probably better for avoiding points on my licence.

I ha a Yellow MKII Vrs many moons ago, If yellow was available now I'd have one in a flash.....................

The brand new VRS that I just passed on the top desk of a transporter (at the back) in Cumbria had 2 pipes on it.

All I can say is a lot of you missed some easy money, yeah I saw something about this last night at the Ace Cafe meet on someone else's phone.

So, yeah the new vRS245 has twin tail pipes all that now remains to be seen is, will the GPF prove as much of a PITA as the DPF's have.
