Hi Just  worried about the engine performance really.as I have had 2LTR diesels in the past ,cant afford the 2LTR petrol .as the company car tax stings me.

Ive driven the golf 1.5tsi and its a very nice engine. Dont think anyone will have driven a 1.5tsi in a superb as wltp is causing delays. The engine it replaces the 1.4tsi is very popular though, and is meant to be an improvement over it.  Having swapped from diesel to petrol myself, the car is a lot more refined imo without the clattery diesel engine.

I have a 2l 220ps Superb, but have driven a 1.4l Kodiaq which seemed to have "enough" performance.

I have a 1.4tsi Sportline as a company car. Coming from a 2.0Tdi Octavia it is certainly a different type of drive, but not an issue in any way.

Also, the 1.4 petrol is 1% lower BIK than the 2.0 diesel equivalent, and because it was also cheaper then the diesel I had more scope to play with the options list with my budget.

Not driven a 1.5 TSi, doubt anyone has in Superb. But we have had 2 1.4 TSi's and they are simply brilliant.

First was a 140 PS in a 2013 Seat Leon. We had been driving diesels for 18 years and were very skeptical about returning to petrols, the Leon would be replacing a 2 litre BMW 1 Series diesel which was without a doubt the best diesel overall we had owned.

We got a 40 mile test drive in the car and had made the decision to buy before getting back to the garage. Just a punchy as the BMW, quieter and if the dash was to be believed just as economical. Within 48 hours we had ordered one and collected it 4 days later. Never regretted the decision, simply brilliant. Averaged 45 mpg overall which was only 2 mpg less than the BMW diesel (these are calculated figures).

When it was time to replace it we needed a bigger car but there was only one engine to have, another 1.4 TSi. The Octavia was initially the first choice but for several reasons the Superb was ordered. With it being a bigger car than the Leon we expected a performance loss and the mpg to be less. Performance is a bit reduced but the car is still more than fast enough (yet to wish I had a 2 litre) but probably because of the ACT it actually does better mpg (just) overall. On a motorway trip its much better on mpg, on a trip to Scotland the Leon would do just over 50 mpg, the Superb does between 53 and 55 mpg depending on traffic and weather (calculated mpg again).

All I can suggest is you get a good long test drive in a TSI Superb and see if its the car for you. Would be very surprised if it falls short.

Just been told today that we are able to order cars again, after being put on hold due to WLTP.

Will probably be looking for a petrol this time, so will have to investigate the 1.5 tsi.

Hmmm, just looking at the configurator and it doesn’t seem to offer a petrol engine with the SE Technology, for some reason.

That's odd, because my initial order back in August was for an SE Technology , 1.5 petrol, but then it appeared not to come with the financial incentives, somchanged it to an SE with Satnav as an option. Mind you I spoke to the dealer last week and still haven't got a build  date as yet.

In my initial post on this forum , I entitled it "patiently waiting", I still am.

The SE Tech is what replaced the SE Business model - the SE Business models have always been diesel only in the past. However expect that to change..

Well, I got the accounts dept. to get a quote for a 1.5tsi and they conformed today that I can have an SE Technology 1.5tsi DSG.

Checked the configurator and it seems it is now available. Phew!

Well I am really disappointed in the 1.4 Act when compared to my old diesel. I used to fly around thrashing the nuts of my old diesel, that diesel groan......what a wonderful noise! I used to really enjoy carrying spilt diesel in to the car on the soles of my shoes every time I filled up, as an air freshener it was great and took ages to wear off, even better when it got all over your hands and you applied it to the steering wheel. But the biggest disappointment is getting home relaxed and with no fire in my belly. Tosspot Driver’s getting in the way, driving like bum holes used to send my heart rate soaring and I’d get home hyped up and I’d feel soooooo alive.

Now it’s all quiet and smells like a new car. Cruising along with ACC is soothing and almost soporific, so I’m getting home calm, relaxed and rested. It’s all very bland.............lol

I am considering a 1.5TSI engine for my next company car.

Does anyone have any thoughts on pairing this engine with the DSG?

I look forward to hearing from people who have actually driven the 1.5TSI superb and would love to know more MPG feedback.

1.4ACT dsg estate is doing 40-42 mpg for me at the mo, can’t imagine it’ll do much more. Standard rep fair of stop start motorway, cross country traffic avoidance and town work.

Factor in cost of diesel vs petrol and it’s doing roughly about the same as my insignia 130bhp manual but it’s much bigger and nicer. Mind you, I thrashed the insignia and I am driving the superb more sedately.
