I got my new catback exhaust, some thoughts and pictures

Featured Replies

Hey all

So I finally got my catback system installed, 304 stainless steel from Longlife. Overall I am very happy however it's non resonated which results in a lot of drone and lift off blow back and even some vibration in the seats.

So first things first, it's booked in for a centre resonator to be fitted to fix this issue. The exhaust sounds nice, not stupid loud but has a lovely rumble.

One thing I'm not overly happy about although nothing I can probably so is that while the new back boxes are much smaller than OEM because they are so shiny they are very noticeable. I keep telling myself that once they get dirty it'll be okay but I wonder can they be dipped or coated black.

In brief if you are going with a catback make sure you get a resonated one.

I am happy though and once it's resonated I think all will be good.

Thanks, yes this is what I was thinking, even just the visible bits should be enough... You any pictures of yours from behind and underneath you can share?

nice job....

keep them silver. You know your behind a fast(er) vRS if you can see both back boxes.

lol....good point....i think i might still paint though...plus all the diesel vRS cars in Ireland have silver tips, rarely anyone over here retro fits black OEM tips on their diesels. Not sure if the 245 model though all the tips are silver, shame if they are as black is way better

not all the diesel vRSs in N.Ireland / Ireland have stock coloured tips. Mine with black tips and stainless back boxes...

Okay so a quick follow up as I just had a new smaller than stock resonator fitted and now thankfully all that annoying lift off drone is gone (mostly) and what is left is very quite, almost stock.

On the outside the car seems to be just as it was which is good, nice rumble but ive not had a chance to see if all the nice exhaust crackle is gone due to the resonator, I am hoping not as it was there with the OEM one just not as much as in the video above.

Will update again soon.
