VAG Tuning Division

Featured Replies

Hey all

I was just thinking that wouldn't it be great if VAG created a tuning division for their cars, VW, Audi, Skoda and the rest. For example, Mercedes have AMG and I would think the VAG could certainly do it or VAG should let their individual companies create their own.

Imagine bringing your vRS into Skoda and have a sports valved OEM exhaust fitted with a tuned OEM remap to bring in the nice pops. Skoda has a great rally history and they certainly know how to create nice cars with good engines. I know Skoda is the 'sensible' choice etc but I think they would sell a bucket load of Octavia's if they created either a tuning division or created an actual RS 400 version of it, much like what Audi do with the RS 4.

Anyway, just some Sunday thoughts.....

If Skoda CZ were even allowed to produce Hot Hatches / Estates with the Standard 300ps or more engines SEAT, VW or Audi get that would be a starter.

All that Skoda Motorsport / rallying  success and heritage with small, light vehicles like those they Sponsor and the best you get with a Fabia is 110ps 1.0 litre engine.

It might happen one buy but dont expect cheap cars then, like for example imagine the price of vrs ~400 4wd...

I think its better this way, you can have more of an incognito car if you buy a superb 280 and tune it to ~400.

True it would be, but people would pay, tuning is great but most regular people let's say would rather buy it ready to go etc.

I know what you mean - I would rather buy something already tuned, possibly with a warranty. but mainly the fact that being such a huge company they've tested the mods to failure, than do it myself or trust it to someone who may not know what they are doing

Something like the old Mountune packages would be fantastic, that would sensibly and within warranty take a 230bhp to say 260bhp.

A 400bhp Octavia is absolutely dreamland though.

Skodas key market is cheap and cheerful. If you want power and sports they'd rather you bought into Cupra.

which is why "Cupra" is being spun off as a stand alone brand.....

BTH they have a tuning divison..well VW do...its called VWracingline….basically the old VWmotorsport who build & ran their rally cars....just make loads of stuff, based in UK & use loads of UK manufactures for items to be re-badged "vwracingline"

So I have two sets of TDPR alloys, bought direct from TD..one of the sets you can get branded "vwracingline"..& pay more for..only other difference is it has radius bolt holes (OEM) instead of taper as mine do...

I also have a drop in foam panel filter made by ITG....who also brand their stuff for vwracingline….

Audi already have the RS line which is effectively a separate division/brand already. Beyond that, the other brands have evolved performance models/specs (vRS, R, Cupra). These identities already exist in the market place and are known so why go to the expense of hiving them off into separate companies/divisions?

Skoda has got communist roots which denounced anything grand and thwarted any sporting heritage.
