  • Good to know about the rivet. Thanks. Hopefully someone can let me know about the fuse to save my neighbours' sanity!

First, have you had the car battery tested?

  • Thanks for replies. The main car battery has not been tested. Car is 9 yrs old. Owned car 3 yrs. Don’t know if battery is original but seems likely. Car starts fine and stop start works. I have now cu

My circuit board was eaten away by the battery leakage, bought one from Ali like many have, fitted it and VCDS said "no comms with alarm siren" and also added "no comms with interior sensor" for good measure which was not there before.

So by trying to get rid of one of the many red typfaced fault codes I ended up with an additional one and still no siren.

First world problem though.

I am tempted not put the new unit in. It is 10 years old from an ebay breaker. Who says that will work 🤷🏻‍♂️

@FatblokeVRS

Thanks for the link. I may get one for stock ready for when mine fails as it is now 8 years old.

I too am having problems with the alarm on a Fabia 1.2 TDI from 2011. Have any of you successfully replaced / repaired the alarm unit? I'm thinking of ordering a second hand one that is younger than ours in the hope that that works and then stripping down the older one to see how easy it is to replace the battery.

  • 4 months later...

As with everyone else that has stumbled across this thread, I too am now having this issue!

I'm going to strip the old on out this evening if all goes to plan. My question is, whilst it is removed will I experiance any other issues? Or is it ok to leave the Siren removed from the vehicle?

Also, if when I take it to bits I find that the battery has leaked over the board and killed it, I will replace it with a new or newer used one, will this need coding to the car or will it be a straight swap!?

did you ever measure the battery voltage before replacing, mines showing 6.98v, but error code is Alarm Horn -h12 01134

If I recall correctly mine looked great and tested well, changed the battery with a brand new one and it still didn’t work. Put in a second hand one and it’s worked perfectly ever since. Ok it might not last that long but part of it for me in the first instance was to check it was the alarm unit and nothing else. If it goes again in my ownership then I’ll just buy and brand new one, think they were about £150.

there not £155 now 😐 just been quoted £355+VAT, so £426 for the below

1k8 951 605C

well there must be another number, as quoted reg and theyve said its £200 included VAT

does anyone know if 1K0951605 is compatible

ETKA seems to suggest it's one of the top two part numbers, either side of the dates shown (and prices approx as shown on the right, not sure where you get the 1k8951605C number from?

LLLParts

Skoda-parts.com shows a lot of part number equivalents (including both of those in the first link) in grey near top of page:

Alarm Unit Škoda 1K0951605F (skoda-parts.com)

Cheers, the part i took off car didnt have a letter on end, so must have presumed it was a C

And Skoda quoted me £273.59 to replace my H12 alarm for my 2012 car [2011 build].

7ZAP says that from 6 Dec 2010 onwards, part number 1K8 951 605B is used. Interestingly 1K8 951 605C ceased being used at 5 Dec 2010. It looks like VAG went back to previous version.

Just Google the part number, there are many sellers selling them brand new i.e https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202464052287?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338268676&toolid=10044&customid=Cj0KCQjwpcOTBhCZARIsAEAYLuWN2dLJuWadvyfvREbfV01k2SXWz5rrTtBOycDCaTMgnnwMWPyb9JkaAioUEALw_wcB

Do you know what the difference is between 1K0 951 605C and 1K8 951 605C?

Does the latter definitely exist?

There are so many variants, depending on model year etc... It's a shared part with many other cars including Lamborghini! I don't know the specific details of the differences, I just googled the part number that was in discussion above. Mine was a different number.

Ah, I think you may have mis-read 7zap.

According to the LLL link I posted above, the previous version to 1K8951605B  was 1K0951605C.

Yeah, same as on lll, but different from what you posted in your first comment 4 hours ago ^^

What I'm saying is that I don't think 1K8951605C exists, nor ever has done.

In my interpretation, D >> - 05.12.2010 means all dates before 5 Dec 2010 [for the C version]

and D - 06.12.2010 >> means from 6 Dec 2010 onwards. [for the B version]

How do you read it?

It's the third character I'm trying to draw attention to, 0 in one case 8 in t'other. Different base part numbers.

I thought that the number in that position has only 3 uses or versions, 0 = not sided, 1 = LHD and 2 = RHD, so I wonder what 8 could mean, or has VW Group numbering moved on a lot since I first looked into it? Maybe there were a couple of other numbers to denote hatch or estate, thought I could be wrong there. In this case I would think that they all would have a "0" in that position of a part number that would be "not sided" or "not handed".
