Udder mod, what is it?

£40 for the whole lot? not that much if you ask me, especially when it has more effect than the more expensive £50 seat strut brace, and it's not easily visible.

So, do we have an OEM version? Not especialy for skoda .. but something that fits. Rubber bushings are fine, polyurethane is tops. In my opinion the prices are a bit too high for such a not-high-tech thing.

The problem is any other solution (eg different bushes) would cost more when you figure in labour to fit... because this bush is on a "console" which is bolted to the subframe, means youve gotta take the wishbone off, then the console before you can even try to get the old bush out to replace it. then because its a "adjustable" part of the car, you should ideally have a full 4 wheel alignment when its all back togetther again to make sure its straight.

so

The problem is like this. In my country, that is Romania, unfortunately I don't get access to so many tuning dealers yet. OEM parts are no problem, but special parts it's trickyer and usualy they add very much to the price, because it's a "special" order, and to be special you gotta pay extra :D. So I might get the strut-brace cheaper than those bushings although in reality they are cheaper.

That's why I was thinking maybe a sportier version like the cupra or FR on the same platform will have such and add-on. In that case I could buy the OEM part and have no problems. The DIY on this one is a piece of cake.

Make your own? The "udder mod" is neatest way of filling four holes in the front wishbone, rear bush. If you measure the holes, you could make something up in plastic or metal to fill them.

J.

Yes it's no problem to manufacture some fillings. The udder has the advantage of keeping the fillings into place. This is because while the axle moves one hole gets tensioned while the opposite one is loose and so on + the fact all fillings are secured with the screw on the udder plate. Plastic sounds better. Metal would cut spaces into the existing bushing and would dammage it.

Question: what material is the udder made of? Is it rough plastic or rubber?

I spoke to Jabba this afternoon, and they aren't aware of said udders - just replacement bushes. They are going to look into it and get back to me though.

But for

Hell' is there an update on this yet?

Have the correct ones arrived?

Is it a worth while mod?

Yes, fitted at the weekend, correct part number in this post. Makes the turn in noticably sharper and feedback seems further improved, however this could be down to 2 new tyres on the front

A worthwhile mod for £40 and it took me a little longer at 40 minutes to make sure everything was just right ;)

Basically the 4 best suspension mods in order appear to be:

1) Rear ARB - not got :(

2) 25mm Eibach Springs - got :)

3) Udder Mod - got ;)

4) Front Upper Strut Brace - got :D

I have been doing some research on this.

My results. All the cars on the same platform (ibiza,a2,polo,fabia) have this rear bushing code: 6Q0-407-183 with the same price but the CUPRA version of ibiza (engine code BPX) which has a 6LL-407-183 which costs slightly different, 10% extra. I think that the CUPRA must have an improved version. Two pieces seem to be something like 10 euros. I have no other info yet, maybe you have the oportunity to check out that bushing on a CUPRA and see how it looks like.

Look forward to what you find - could be a Neo-PD160-esque mod!

I've got to find a cupra first :D. Maybe you guys know one cand can have a peek underneath it ;).

Neo, I had no ideea that was the CUPRA one. Was there any explanation about that? I did not see it

Did you fit them on the fabia? How improved is the handling afterwards. Maybe I've missed that explanation too :(

  • Author
If anything the handling should get better after a few hundred miles.. new tyres are always a bit squirmy until they have worn in to the suspension geometry..

Excellent' date=' can't wait! :D

And youll find theres quite a considerable gap between the number 1 mod and the number 2 ;)

After reading LOTS of posts on it, I am believe the Rear ARB to be the best mod available for a vRS to improve handling. But IMO only I think that the lowering springs have made more of an improvement than the seat sport strut brace and the udder mod as it has reduced roll and nose diving under heavy braking without adversely affecting ride comfort, it also makes the vRS look better asthetically ;)

But it's a big  for this mod, definately worth the

How much is the Cupra one?! Cheaper or a lot more expensive?????

Surely the Cupra is a replacement bush rather than an insert (udder)... and labour on that would be quite a bit?

I'll be ordering mine from Awesome imminently.
