Udder mod, what is it?

Featured Replies

I've seen a few people mention it but i'm unclear if it's for the Fabia or Octavia

Reading a post using the search function :) by "vrsfab" it states that replacing the rear mounts on the front suspension with uprated "ones" (what?) makes a difference to steering response and feel and it's apparently according to the post one of the easiest mods to do?

So here goes:

  • Is it for the Fabia or Octavia?
  • Why aren't there many threads on it or am I searching for the wrong thing?
  • Is it an easy mod?
  • Is it cheap?
  • What essentially is it?
  • What are the effects of doing the Udder Mod?

I think that's all for now.

Thanks, Chris.

  • What are the effects of doing the Udder Mod?Stops alot of the movement in the lower arm thus firming up the steering a little

  • Cost approximately
  • Who has done it? PM me if you want :D
  • Where would one buy the "poly support" ?
  • DIY Job?

[*]Cost approximatelyabout

Will try to dig out the order. Got the front & rear ones for the front Wishbone and got JBS to fit them as it made sense (they had the press for the front, front wishbone).

The rear, front wishbone support is DIY fit.

Neo had them fitted ages ago. He said it helped. Cheap DIY mod.

So which has the best effect? the front front ones :D or the rear front's?

any link to where i can get it from. At £20 it seems like a nice cheap DIY job that seems to work.

Does it involve removing the suspension? any quick help guides to show me how i might do it?

what tools will i need?

Only the front rear is DIY so go for that.

Just to point out you need 2 so it's £20 a side! Also if your standard bushes are worn you'll need to replace those as well.

Hi Eddy

I was just going to say we had a chat about this.

Did you not say that you keep the origional ones?

We couldn`t find it either when we searched for it :)

Its all good fun.

Sarah

FYI when you order it it will come as a set of two anyway. Never, ever change only one side as the car won't be balanced left/right which could cause allsorts of fun (probably won't, but why take the risk ;))

Yes if the standard ones are ok then you retain those with the new inserts but in my case I needed new standard bushes whether I got the inserts or not.

so that's £40 all in, i'm unclear whether this is an "addon" or if it's case of replacing a standard part with an uprated part?

Do they wear out the standard bushes any quicker and is it ok to just to do the rear front's or should I do all 4 at once with uprated bushes in which case it becomes quite expensive after fitting?

Yes it's £40 and it's an insert for the standard bushes rather than replacement.

It's an addon - bush has four holes in the rubber, udder has four sticky out bits. Use your imagination for how the two bits go together. ;):D

so is it a case of just removing the wheel, or does the spring need to come off aswell?

how is it held in?

sorry for so many questions but i'm intrigued, especially if it's a cost effective mod.

Yes it's

The bush is exposed, facing backward, when the car is off the ground.

You've got to get under her, aim carefully, and thrust it in. ;)

And then the car, right.....

So remove the 2 front wheels, jack the car up then fit  anything obscuring them?

Wont they just fall out?

Dont even need to take the wheels off....

even jacking up is optional.. depends how flat you can lie on the ground but they can be reached with the car on the floor..

push udder in.. hammer it, put plug in and hammer more

altho i have lost one because my bushes are fooked anyway... which doesnt matter now coz ive found a better solution :D;)

behold.........
