Rear wiper

Featured Replies

Hi all im new here so be gentle

i have a 2008 octavia vrs diesel saloon  and im having problems with my rear wiper , basically i think the water pipe may have come off from the jet and also my wiper has stopped working but i cant seem to get the boot panel off  is there a special way of doing so ? Many thanks in advance ( a novice mechanic )

i have exactly the same problem with my new-second-hand 2012 Octavia. I've tried pulling on the trim and it doesn't seem to want to come off with what I think is a reasonable amount of force. I'd rather not break anything so I'd be grateful of the answer to this too.

Thanks,

Paul.

Saloon? Not hatchback?

There's a torx screw where there rubber pull handle is, once that is removed the rest of boot panel is held with clips, it will prise off with a bit of force.

Remove wiper with puller, undo the 3 bolts holding motor on then open it up, it will be rusted up. WD40 then re-grease then it should work again.

I just cut the rubber washer pipe and put a bolt in it so no screen wash can get through.

You'll have a working wiper that should now last life of car due to no water passing through/past motor, just no back screen wash.

Thanks for that i will have a go at the weekend . Appreciate the quick reply

and yes hatchback

This is a common weak point on the Octavia Hatch - I had to have at least 3 replaced over the years I owned Octavias - its a poor design IMHO and doomed to fail.

Good luck with your repair - hope you manage to sort it ok.
