Stabilitiy control and Engine light come on Octavia mark 2 1.6mpi

Hello all can someone please help and tell me if this is a common problem. Today on my Octavia (Mark 2) 1.6 MPI.  The stability control light and engine light came on whilst in a straight line at 50 mph. When I pulled over to the hard sholder the engine started spluttering. After turning the car off and restarting the engine light stayed on but the stability control light went off. The engine ran very rough for a little bit and randomly accelerated as I tried to pull off the main road. Has anyone else had these symptoms with their car? Skoda Marshal are asking a £132 just for a Diagnostic which I think is a little high just to plug a pc into the car.
