Another Android problem.

Featured Replies

As mentioned, SWIMBO bought me a cheap Tablet for xmas. It runs Android 8.1 GO EDITION. Been once or twice since  that I’ve had it that I wanted to print direct to my Epson WI FI PRINTER.  So today I went looking. Printer works WIFI over the wifi router. So I had a look on the Epson site and found a few apps that look like that I should be able to set this up. But the tablet apps can't see the printer, not even if I manually insert the IP address of the printer into the APP.PC shows my smartphone, wife's smart phone,Humax STB , printer and Tablet, as does my tablet . I've tried the Epson apps for auto connect ( which is how I get PC to connect to printer) , but no joy. So only two choices left

1 - I'm missing an app/doing something wrong.

2 - Printer is not compatable.

Any other suggestions ?

It maybe a compatability thing but i doubt it as its a new enough tablet.

Ive had issues with wifi printing with laptop to canon pixma - it works this week, but wont on wednesday.. then is fine again thursday, but hair pulling again the following monday morning..

I havnt done any further trying as ive a list of more important stuff to do. However... a thought ive had is i wonder would setting the router to static ip assignment rather than dynamic work?

I've had words with Epson Tech support. Tablet knows printer is connected to router, but won't connect. Epson say printer ( although only a couple of year old) is not modern enough to be compatable.

Can't help you on that one, Mac. I've just got round to using my printer on the WiFi network, on Win 10. Printer does all the work on that  with help from CD.

What sort of router do you have? Is it left switched on all the time? How about the printer - do you leave that on "standby" or do you tend to switch on and off as required?

Printer gets turned off. Thats why i reckon its the ever changing ip address being a prat, the laptop doesnt know where to look today... i just havnt gotten around to testing that theory ;)

Maybe by easter!

Many routers will allow you to set a MAC address (i.e. a particular device) to always be allocated the same IP address - I have my Netgear R7000 router set so that ALL our own devices always get allocated a [articular IP address and only visitors devices get changing IP addresses.

Might also be under Static addresses in your router settings in the  DHCP  section. This makes DHCP server always give the printer the same address every time it asks for an IP address.

Wonder might the above advice also help mr @VWD

Worth a try anyway!

My printer is on a timer setting, but always retains the same address on the router. Seems to be a function of the router that addresses remain constant.
