New Karoq SE Tech - Family pack question

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I'm about to place a PCH order for a Karoq SE Tech in Quartz Grey. Unfortunately it has to be the 1.6 TDi due to budget constraints but so may feel a little slow compared to the Octavia vrs but needs must..

I have a young child and one thing I hate about the vrs is the lack of tinting on the rear windows so, a couple of questions I would be grateful if anyone could answer

1. Do the rear windows on the SE Tech have any more tinting as standard than the fronts?

2. The "family pack" which seems a bargain at £120 adds "heat-insulating glass from B-pillar privacy glass" among other things - how dark is this compared to standard?

Thanks in advance!

Cannot comment on above, but I have sun blinds fitted to the rear of my Octy Scout. It means I can leave the rear windows down and stops flies and debris getting in.

Can also reduce the amount of glass that enters the cabin if you're unfortunate enough to suffer a broken window.

This is my Octy Scout with the above shades and Sunset privacy glass.

@steveb8189 I have the family pack on my edition. On a scale of 1 - 10 (1 having no tint at all and10 being limousine black), I would say the fronts are a 3, and from the b pillar back they are roughly a 6.5

Disappointingly they do let a lot of sunlight through to my childrens dismay. I expected them to be darker, but as part of the pack with independent electronic control of the rear doors the pack as a whole is worth having, shame the front isofix isn't part of it too!

I have a family pack on a se l I would say they are as dark as the Octavia above ,I will try and get a picture in day light for you

My first post on this forum and what a welcome. Thank you for all of your rapid feedback!

Given the cost of aftermarket tinting the family pack seems a bit of a bargain so I'll go for it.

@Gaz1985 My son is 3 so still stuck in his car seat but I guess by the time it goes back in 3 years I'll appreciate the door locks - are they somewhere near the window controls?

@Fin69 They look OEM. I wish I had bought some for my octavia rather than messing around with the suction ones... They will definitely be the fallback plan if the tints are not enough

@steveb8189 You're welcome and welcome to the forum! Yes they are located on the drivers door just below the window controls. Those car shades along with the OEM tint from the family pack would be a handy and removable addition for you on PCH.

@Fin69 Thanks for the link, they look excellent. I'll be ordering a set for the Karoq and for the Mrs' Fiesta too.

Just be aware, for some reason the rear sunscreen comes in two parts, so they'll be a line down the middle of the screen.

I bought the Skoda OE one as it a single piece and doesn't interfere with my rear view dashcam.

The "tailgate" one? I was surprised to read it actually came with one of those anyway. Thanks for the tip

Here’s a shot of my windows with family  pack , I think the child locks and the boot mat are a good idea the bin is a waste of time

^^^ maybe its the light or the background behind the vehicle but they look darker than mine, I'll try and take a shot later with open space behind to let more light through...maybe wait until it stops snowing first

Isn't that an oxymoron; the bin is rubbish?

Hi Patrolman. I like the deflectors on your windows. Where did you get them from.

It's not the tint. They reflect UVA UVB rays so they don't get sun burn through the glass will still get heat though

HaHa no it is useless, its a plastic bag joined to a bit of plastic

So, if I pushed the plastic top down into the plastic bag part - it would effectively bin itself as rubbish?  Another win for the Simply Clever folks at Skoda!

This confused me as well.

To clarify:

Car windscreens have a plastic layer bonded between two layers of glass and this blocks all the UVB and 80 per cent of the UVA, making sunburn very unlikely.

8,000 per annum and I think 6.9p per mile for excess mileage.
