replacement key fobs from fle bay

Featured Replies

The flip out mechanism snapped on my fob. (the part that holds the blade of the key in the spring loaded revolving part)

I obtained a replacement from that online auction site which appeared to be a perfect match apart from not having the skoda badge.

As I only wanted to replace the spring mechanism I though it worth a punt, especially at only £4 ish

I have succeeded however there were issues you should be aware of.

The original (and the replacement) clip together but are also secured with a chrome pin which you can see the end of when you flip the key out.

It is to the left of the word "hella" and underneath " 3t0"

I see no way of removing this pin *without damage, perhaps some small sharp side cutters and dig the ends into the plastic. however I didn't know what this pin was and found conflicting and plain wrong information on the net regarding this fob so I ended up forcing it apart, which of course broke off some of the plastic retainers the pin slides through.

As you get a complete new case this wasn't a great worry.

The next problem is that the new blank key blade is very slightly shorter, thinner and narrower than the original where it connects to the fob.

In order to get the old key blade into the new holder I had to file all dimensions , it is obvious when you have filed enough as you can not get the blade retaining pin to push through until it is fully inserted. in fact to start with the old key will not even engage in the new holder.

You get no instructions and clearly no circuit board which you remove from the old fob but if you are prepared for some work this is a very cheap option.

There is no part number printing on it (under the key)

the spring and push pin are smaller than the original but are fine.

It feels like an updated original part before each brand is applied.

some pics that might help

above is the circuit board in the old case

That pin is a swine, the previous VAG key was much easier.

You're probably right about getting it out without damage....

Taking a key apart - from 3 mins 7 secs on....

Some will tell you to hammer the pin through but that just wrecks the RFID chip.
