Crikey, that’s impressive.  Who did you use pls?

Local smart repair centre:

On these results, we'll be popping MrsV6TDI's Polo GTI down to them, for all four of hers.

Not today but last week. The sat nav said “take the ferry” so we did.

Yesterday finally got to drive the car on a motorway. Played around with the CC. Car felt really stable at speed although it was hammering down..... Dunlop Sport max tyres. Just one thing puzzling me, went through periods of rain and dry spells but wipers did not turn on automatically, they did speed up on their own after I had switched them on.

Since updating my head unit to mib2 Amundsen and using a very second hand screen from rustynuts, I decided to cover up the damage to the surround and at the same time get rid of the fingerprint magnet. The glossy screen is the old Amundsen mib1 that I'm yet to sell.

Now the question, should I do the edging in silver to match (somewhat) the chrome trim around the vents?

What do people think?

Edit: cheap black vinyl from eBay btw.

Another small mod today, just replaced the 5 interior roof light bulbs with LED ones. Nice and bright.

Nearly didn't spot the bonnet struts. Just have to remove the yellow clip for the old manual bonnet support.:tongueout:

You have a point, going out now to do just that. All done and looking even better shyVRS245.

Your bonnet struts are a great improvement, is this a kit from somewhere or have you fabricated everything yourself...?

Hi Phil245. Got them online from Superskoda. 2 Struts and 4 bolts. Ten minutes with the correct star socket for the bonnet bolts and then the bolts on the wings, job done. Have had a few parts from them over the years and generally they have been good. They are based abroad, but usually they deliver within a week. Just ordered some rubber mats, as my old ones from my previous MK2 fl VRS are not an exact fit.  Here is the web site on the correct page.  http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-hood-power-damper-set-KI-R

I bought a pair of struts and a selection of ball ends sufficient to do both mine and my neighbours Octavias for £7.28 on ebay, they are more expensive now but the price goes up and down, I just searched with the listing title over a few days and grabbed them when cheap.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Bonnet-Boot-Gas-Struts-Bootlids-Tailgates-Parts-Hatchback-Ball-Studs-55CM-UK-/292959967552?hash=item4435c65940

They are good quality and work just fine, I dont have the reinforcing brackets but so long as its me opening the bonnet at a reasonable pace and not someone on speed there is no more deflection than resting the bonnet on the standard stay, the only way you could overload the joint is pulling it down too fast.

Very pleased, then a few days ago I fitted some die springs to the rear struts for auto tailgate opening, again dirt cheap and good quality, I only needed one but fitted a pair.

Same deal with the price, I got them from this seller for £4.80 delivered.

Your welcome mate.

Purchased two Michelin PS4's to replace the Bridgestones. Not the most Gucci of things to purchase but needs must

Dusted and hoovered the car interior out... boring really, wash tomorrow!

Took the plunge and debadged!

Desolvit sticky remover worked OK, bit of residue left which a bit of wax polished out.

I like it B)

Such is the way with these things. It’ll be figured out though :) Some are easier than others.
