Ignition light.

Featured Replies

Hi all. Thanks in advance for any and all input you may have on this one.

Question re: 2005 Mk1 Skoda Fabia 1.4 16 valve 100hp.

Just had new accessory belt (serpentine belt). Belt is fitted correctly at correct tension. Tensioner is working fine. First start up in the morning the ignition light is now glowing for longer until engine is revved then goes out immediately. All other starts of the day are fine with ignition light going out immediately on start up. Have tried full load on alternator with engine running, headlights and all other accessories on. Ignition light stays out and behaves itself for rest of day.

It never did this before new accessory belt, but I suspect this may be a coincidence, but I may be wrong.

Do you reckon this is going to be a problem or just yet another foible to live with?

thanks all.

I think the brush pack on the alternator needs replacing or you can live with it until the light stays on for longer.

It's a coincidence that you've just replaced the belt.

Sepulchrave. Thanks for that. Will leave it for a while, as you say, til the light stays longer.
