Got a great view of Mark's lovely superb the other evening so thanks for that @Markbro!

Going to wait and try find a nice clean one, almost snapped the other evening and a 2016 L&K 4x4 190 DSG but when I found out the garage selling the car had purchased it 2 weeks earlier for £2100 cheaper I couldn't do it. I had spotted the car for private sale on Autotrader and noticed it looked very familiar. They were honest and told me it was the same car and that they got it for £16900 which I thought was fair. It's now up for £18900 though..

I know it's a Skoda forum but stage 1 of dogs in boot complete with the Santa Fe. Travall guard arrived which annoyingly has one clamp piece incorrect. It's cosy in there for the two 2 guys but it will work out I think. They won't be in there for more than 15 or 20mins and only occasionally. Not sure how much space will remain on the left but we'll see. This will serve until I can pick up a Superb estate.

Great dogs! Don't forget to buy the sill protector when you get the Superb - and post pics of the dogs' new ride (with them in it of course)

Great point on the sill protector, should pick one up for this also! Will definitely keep updated and show the chaps in their new Superb when I get it.

SWMBO started hinting about moving. My two non-negotiable requirements were a big enough garage for car fettling and space enough for a retriever. It's gone a bit quiet since :D.

Get thee to the rescue centre my friend...!

All I can add is that I have a GSD and a Lab X and they are basically spoilt in the boot of the superb

My daughter fits in with all her clobber as well, the space behind the drivers seat (Im a short arse) is plenty big enough to fit the (icandy) pushchair in plus all the associated clothes, wipes, nappies, drinks, toys and random things

I don't have a dog guard in mine as there is absolutely no way my GSD and Lab are going over the top of the seats

Get yourself a https://www.hatchbag.co.uk bootliner with a bumper guard, I've used them for years and only had 1 or 2 accidental scratches on the bumper thus has never fitted a bumper guard as I know I'd the OCD on when that gets scratched ..

Great to know. Was wondering about the space behind the seat alrite. Is there any safety concerns with this kind of set up?

50kg giant schnauzer, 29" at the shoulder sits nicely with head just brushing roof lining ,haven't bothered with dog guard as space above headrests is small compared to SUV.

Well everybody, I pulled the trigger yesterday and made the purchase. Got exactly what I was after (within my practical requirements).

Picked up a 56 plate 4x4 190 L&K in quartz grey with the panoramic sunroof, dark brown leather and 27k miles at a reasonable deal. The  only thing it doesn't have is the reversing camera but the tv tuner makes up for that 🙂

Already put on 850 miles getting it back from the UK to Ireland and a day trip today. Initial thoughts are that I really like the car with a few things for working on. I'm coming from a 520D Auto which is remapped to 227BHP with tonnes of torque. One thing I've noted is that the throttle response is a bit spongey at lower revs. Sometimes the DSG actually goes up a gear when the throttle is pressed which further delays response. Above 2200RPM then it pulls quite strongly but the instant response after pressing the pedal is, well, not instant.. 😄

I know its hard to compare but the BMW always seemed to have instant response, any time I pressed the pedal there was always a solid feeling in the pedal and instant power being applied. I'm going to let the car bed in with me for a little bit but in reality I will be going to a guy over here who really knows his stuff and getting a custom remap on the ECU and also a DSG remap. I didn't mention the throttle response but maybe he can do this as well. I'd like to avoid a pedal box as I have a probably unfounded fear that if that piece of add on kit goes wrong then it could be sending full throttle signals tot he ECU in error.

Everything else about the car I really like. Ride is a mix depending on the DCC setting. A bit of a bouncy bouncy affair in anything less than Sport and pretty good at sport. Again, very different from a 5 series but you can't get all the extra practicality of the Superb without compromising elsewhere.

The Haldex was serviced at 24k miles which I see as a serious plus. I think I'm going to go at 25k mile intervals on these for the filter/gauze and oil. Maybe overkill but screw it, particularly if I get the remap then don't mind adding some extra maintenance to keep it right.

The TV tuner is actually surprisingly handy. I was waiting for the ferry for 90mins and was able to watch something to kill the time. I'm also going to try and unlock the video in motion. Not because I'm a tool who will watch anything driving but just because I like having full control over my devices, it's a matter of principle. I could easily just put a tablet up and watch tv or whatever if I was being a complete idiot but I don't. I've always rooted or jailbroken my phones etc under the same mentality.

Glad to be a part of the group now 🙂

Absolutely. Was passing though yesterday actually on the way back from Tralee but caught for time. I'll hit you up when I get some tuning done 🙂

Hi,

Only just spotted this thread.  I have a superb 3 estate, and had 2 retrievers who sadly are now no longer with us (but they were 13 and 14 when they died).  I had a Lintran dog cage (I think it was model 2006), which fitted perfectly in the car.  It has doors which are lockable, so that you can leave the back door open on a warm day to allow the dogs to keep cool, and as the cage is a snug fit your belongings in the car (and the dogs) are secure.  I used to take the cage in and out on my own in 30 seconds.  It also had a mat which folded down over the rear sill and bumper so no scratches, and the cage has thermal qualities which keep the dogs cool.  The cages are the same as those used by the police for their dogs.  The firm is based near Lincoln.  The cage was pricey, but the dog was totally secure and safe.  My 2 babies loved it.

Hope this helps.

Yes would be interested to see the difference with a remap, something for the future maybe!

Bit of an old thread but I'm hoping for some feedback on a similar vein.. I'm looking for a Superb Estate but can't find what I want for love nor money so I've started thinking maybe get the Hatch.. there's loads more of those around so way more choice. BUT.. will I get the dogs in? They're not huge.. one spaniel, the other a border terrier. I mean they've ridden in the back of my wife's previous car, a Hyundai i30 hatch and the Skoda hatch boot is way bigger. It's just the way it slopes off that has me worried. They tend to sit facing the rear watching the world pass by.

Anyone else got dogs and a hatch.. how do you find it? Or more to the point, how do the dogs find it?
