  • @nori you have Amundsen MIB2 MY16, non-DAB. You can use any of screens you mentioned (3V0919606, 3V0919605D), they are P&P, just note in case of 3V0919605D you will get a little space between the

Hi Pab567

Do you know what the latest SW version is for a Amundsen MY17?

My unit is showing 0363 as the software version.

If there is a newer version is it possible to download it from anywhere or is it Dealer Only?

Thanks

OMG, bu yazıyı göz ardı ettim, üzgünüm. Evet, pls PM bana ulaşın ve ben size Avustralya için iletişim göndereceğiz

Hello, pab567 . I hope that you also have a connection in Turkey.
I want to replace the Amundsen Mib 1 system in my 2014 Octavia.
I bought the Bolero 8-inch screen and the Mib2 Unit of the 2019 Octavia car that was scrapped for this.
Smartlink is active on my newly purchased device and has not yet been installed in the vehicle.
Is there anything that can be done to keep Smartlink active?
In the meantime, the old system has navigation but the new system does not have navigation. Hope it won't be a problem
Waiting for suggestions. Greetings

Could anyone recommend a seller for the headunit and screen upgrades? I'm looking to upgrade to Columbus MIB 2.5 (565035021x).

Ebay usually.  Do a collection of searches with various combos of part number and name and you should find something you like.

Thanks Marky!

I've seen a Columbus 2.5 unit with the touchscreen for £799 on eBay.  It has CP removed.

I have VCDS so could I do all the neccessary coding myself?

My current setup is Amundsen MIB 1 with colour maxidot.

Thanks.

That's sounds like a good price if accurate.  Unfortunately VCDS isn't enough for this.  Give @pab567 a shout as he will be able to confirm if the unit will work and can do the coding to get it to match your car.  He's in Poland but a few of us on here have used him and he is the current guru for all things MIB coding.

I’m looking to give my VRS a bit of a spruce up, and one thing I’m thinking of is changing the stereo. I was just thinking of swapping my current MIB1 Bolero for MIB2 Bolero, unless anyone can convince me of the benefits of a Columbus/Amundesn system.

Anyway, if I did a Bolero swap, would I just need the CP removing? Or would it need coding as well?

Every MIB swap needs CP and feature reactivation. The navigation units tend to be more common and easier to get screens for. I love my MIB2.5 Columbus, so many great features. If you aren’t going to use the factory navigation and you are happy with 6.5 or 8 inch screen size then go for Bolero but you won’t really save any money over the Amundsen.

Does the bolero come with android auto / Apple carplay?

if not I would strongly recommend the amundsen.

this slows you to use much better nav (better voice or web search for businesses) and allows you to get most messages using voice only to read them out and reply.

means less temptation to get dangerously distracted when driving and that’s well worth having.

MIB2 Bolero does come with SmartLink capability.

Yeah, I’m not fussed with factory nav, if I can connect my iPhone with Smartlink, then, that’ll do me. It also means I won’t have to drill a hole in the roof, and start running cables in the car.

I’ll do a bit of research and see if there’s any other benefit, apart, from the nav, that would sway me to an Amundsen unit.

You don’t have to mount the GPS antenna to the roof, you can use a magnetic one under the dash. I would be inclined to the Amundsen if only because the 8 inch screen options are cheaper.

Dammit, you’ve just eliminated one the biggest reasons not to get an Amundsen😜. I guess I’m going to be trawling eBay now.

Have to agree on the nav.

have factory nav but don’t use it. Google maps and voice rec much better than factory nav.

use Apple car play and google maps.

plugged in so messages and WhatsApp can all be done with voice at the same time as well as make calls etc.

the 8” screen is nice and clear however.

good luck whatever you decide.

Just noticed this thread. Indeed very informative. Thanks @pab567 and @SashaGrace

You may be able to download it you certainly could and burn it to DVD to update the superb Mk2.

not sure on the MK3 but mine is a model year 17 (67 plate) and the dealer updated the firmware 1 week ago due to an issue with duplicating media on the sd card randomly.

SW showing as ver 1433

Hardware is Amundsen H50

Nav DB V03959803TF0177 ECE 2019/2020

Bluetooth ver 10.446.286

App-Connect ver CLU6_SK11ER_147

Radio database ver 1.8.3

hope this helps.

cheers

PS the duplication wasn’t fixed by the update but I found an album with a couple of curry or tracks which is what triggered the fault so it’s not doing it now.

potentially you could use my sd data with the duff album to create this problem and get the dealer to install the software update under warranty.

the dealer told me they only update firmware where there is a fault that might be fixed by a firmware update as there is a small risk of bricking the unit.

Hello @pab567 and @SashaGrace.

i have Radio HW: 5Q0 035 874 B and Screen HW: 5E0 919 605 J

i am wondering what screen I can change for and if it’s plug and play or coding is required?
Also if you need help with the Antenna’s let me know.

Would it be cheaper to get the Smart Link activated by Skoda or separate?
