A few questions - Octavia Scout

Featured Replies

I've been looking on-line for a bit more information about my recently purchased Skoda Octavia Scout 2Lt Diesel.   I have the owners manual but can't seem to find a workshop repair manual specifically for the Scout model anywhere.  Haynes do one for the Octavia but not the Scout.  Any ideas?  Specifically I wanted to know about the Haldex 4Wd oil change - (which apparently Skoda dealers can miss!?)

Hi Paul, Sorry not an answer just another question to anyone who might know:  How much should a Skoda dealer charge to change the Haldex oil only?  What other parts on the Haldex system need servicing?  I have a 2015 Scout - 32,750 on the clock - and have a very slight niggling feeling that it needs an oil change.

Should have just created a new post for this.

It's listed on the Skoda website:

Hi All,  I've just joined this forum and I wondered if someone might be able to pass on any info regarding the 6 speed gear box on the Octavia Scout (2015).  The vehicle has 32,732 miles and about 7 weeks ago I noticed a very slight noise when changing gear.  I now hear the noise whenever I drive the car.  It's not a loud clunk, more a slight back-lash noise when changing up from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th (you hear it as you engage the clutch and disengage the clutch).  I'd be very interested to hear if anyone has encountered any problems similar to this....  what it might be?  (Could bearings be warn down already creating a bit of movement in the shaft?)  Thanks.

thanks - yep, sorry new to this!  Will do just that in the future but thanks for the link

I think that you would get more attention/replies if you had placed this in the relevant main Octavia section.

If your car is brand new, then you should be able to download info from Erwin.

If your car is used, another alternative is to look on www.easymanuals.co.uk - I have bought workshop documentation from them already and have placed an order for one for our other car, so they do supply the real stuff - unlike some other supplies.

A warm welcome to the Forum !   I am not sure but this sounds like a thrust bearing giving up.  Why not post on the Octavia section in due course.

thank you - I will do.  I'm still slightly trying to work the forum out in terms of where and how to post!

A few threads merged into the correct place (they may look disjointed though) as @Wildman is just getting used to the forum.

Where is the correct place to post about a 2015 Skoda Scout?  I've never used one of these forums and it's not particularly obvious to a beginner.

Top left click on forums, go to Octavia, select which Mk: 1, 2 or 3 and post.

I thought it was 30k on a haldex.  I brough my Scout on 75k with no proof of it being done.  I paid £65 to have it changed at the independent Audi garage I use. Also there's a strainer that needs cleaning out that often doesn't get done.

thank you.

I changed the Haldex fluid on my Scout at about 30K miles. It is a bit of a messy job, the fluid cost be about £25. There should be a few articles on here about how to do it. If you have access to a full lift it would be easier, but is just had mine on ramps. Im now coming up to 60K miles, but this time i will probably pay for a dealer to change. It is however very important to get them to clean the strainer, and not just replace the fluid, as there is no replaceable filter.
