I reckon there's only a few mpg obsessed VRS drivers that drive like that. 😉

Doing 70 in the UK with a VRS is painful.

No wonder we need lane keeping assistance 70 is zzzzzzzzz

Just about any car made in the last 30 years can happily cruise along at 80+

I usually set the cruise at 75, which in real terms is 71. I've found that using a GPS speedometer app 78 = true 75 mph, that way I'm not usually going to attract the attention of the cops.

For SPECS at 50 I set it at 53 which is pretty much spot on for 50.

I've also done the ton+ on a quiet stretch of the A303 mid evening with no one around for good while and it scared me, so not done it again and nor will I. I need my license and I count my blessings that I didn't get caught otherwise I'd have lost it and my job.

It's all very well doing stupid speeds on the motorway or quiet dual carriageways, the real problem comes when you need to stop in a hurry and that just ain't going to happen.

Yeah shy I'm a woose & scaredycat but I can't afford a £55k pay cut because of a moment of madness.

If I get caught doing 80-85 I'm going to get a £200 fine and points, which I can live with for 3-5 years, I can't afford not to have a driving licence, because I'm a shift worker and I live out in the sticks so don't have the joy of taxis, tubes or night buses etc.

I was just teasing wish I was on £55,000 per year. Didn't think you would nibble. Bet I drive slower than you because commuting 52 miles per day don't want to lose my lovely clean licence.

I would imagine you still get about 35mpg at a steady ton.

On my way into work on an early shift when there's herberts trying to crash with one another and they're switching lanes like it's going out of fashion, I sit behind a lorry at an indicated 56mph and watch the madness unfold. When I come out late in the evening, most of the rush hour wallies are already home, so I can happily cruise home at a normal motorway speed.

But any road, we're degressing away from the OP's original point.

I had a a medical emergency with my 5 year old a few weeks back. There was lots of blood, screaming wife and panic! I had to take them to A&E quick. It was 5.30 on Sunday afternoon and I had to get a move on! I'm not going to say where I was as the righteous brigade will cry! But i did see 147 on the dash at one point!

My kids ok now bar a big scar over his right eye!!!
