OBDeleven - I'm impressed!

Featured Replies

Got the pro version, so far I've turned on the footwell lighting when lights are on, central MPH reading, closing tailgate from remote and activated Hill Hold Control B).  An impressive bit of kit for a reasonable price.

I bought the full thing, and enabled (in order of importance):

Automatic windscreen wipers (I had auto headlights)

Xds

Cornering fogs

HHC

Auto rain window close

Fogs as DRLs

Among a few other things. It's certainly a lot easier than going and meetin someone who owns VCDS

My fogs come on and off when turning, not sure how they'd behave if they were acting as DRLs.

Its a funny thing with the cornering fogs but I don't ever remember hitting a curb in the dark when turning. I think because when I first saw it, like everyone else, it was on a new car so a hint of envy crept in and I wanted it.

Clever from the car makers, create an aspirational thing that we didn't even know we needed or wanted.

so both my dipped lights and fogs act as DRLS and are at I guess about 30% all the time. during the night time, when the automatic headlamps do their thing, the dipped lights come on and the "fogs as DRLS" go off (I assume). then when I turn the corner, the relevant fog comes on at full brightness.

Yeah, me either, but it's just nice to have :)

Well, It is also very nice when on a roundabout and the drivers forget to signal their intention. With fog cornering lights it helps to understand what the driver is about to do.

As for OBDEleven, I got serverly burned and lost confidence in the product, see the OPS disappeared thread:

Thus now I don't use anything but ross-tech VCDS.

Your mileage may vary ....

How did you get the MPH reading? I'd like this

Sure, I followed the instructions for VCDS, worked the same:

  1. Select Control Module 17 “Instruments” in VAG-COM/VCDS
  2. Go to Long Coding
  3. Go to Byte 0 > Bit 4-7
  4. Change whatever location you have in there (Normally England) to “Rest of World”
  5. Click Exit and then DO IT
  6. Un-Plug your VCDS and get ready to start playing with your DIS.
  7. On your DIS go to your settings and do the following:
    • Untick “Alt. Speed DIS”
    • Still in settings, go to MFD Data
    • Tick Digital Speedo
    • Click Go Back and then Go to Units
    • Choose Consump./dist.
    • Scroll down and select mpg (UK), mi

Ok thanks, I'l try that.

Did it change the normal kph reading in the center to mph or does it display large on its own?

It replaces the standard kph reading with the large MPH reading.

How many of these were pre-programmed in the 'App's' section?

I'd heard the beauty of OBDeleven is that a lot of the common changes are already pre-set, which limits the need for venturing into the long coding?

I hadn't realised it was as cheap as it was, I had it in my head it was closer to VCDS in terms of pricing. Ignore my post about Carista above, OBDeleven isn't overly much more, and is specific to VAG vehicles.

Never used any of the presets.  There's loads of instructions on VW and Audi forums plus countless Youtube videos.  Activating the hill control has made such a difference it's mad that it wasn't standard.

The newest version of OBDEleven can do some EEProm programming, something VCP had to be used for.

Someone mentioned fog light diagnosis could be switched off now with OBDEleven too.

Havent tried it, because having VCP clone...

The cornering lights use a separate bulb to the fog/DRL.
