New Owner - Help pls

Any body help me, i have a little switch next to the ignition, any ideas what its for? can't find any info in handbook, nor does it do anything noticeable...

The only OEM thing I can see in that vicinity on mine is a blanking plate which would house the headlight levelling control, if I didn’t have xenons

Aftermarket alarm - switch to disable interior sensors?

 

I had a pushbutton switch in my old BMW for this, fitted inside the coin tray.

That's a retrofit of some sort, not OEM. 

 

Possibly heated seats?  Have you tried it? (perhaps stick the mother-in-law in the passenger seat first, in case it's an ejector seat)

Interesting......my car has the pushbutton for the front parking sensors in that position.

Is there no clue in the manual?

Will check,nothing noticeable happens when on, and it’s not retro fit, as dash is moulded nicely round switch plate, as opposed to it being cut out or drilled.. will check

in handbook.  not sure may well check with Skoda.

That switch is defo an aftermarket switch and non original, maybe the vehicle had a set of flashing beacons on the roof or some kind of extra lighting fitted at some point that's been removed and the switch left in place.

Who was the cars previous owner?

Given that it's next to the lights, is it not likely to have been for an aftermarket light (removed before it was sold)? Either amber flashing (maintenance vehicle) or taxi light, or similar?

looks very similar to a Tail lift switch on a truck....although they usually have a light to say on

 

probably not a lift fitted at any stage   😃

That is definitely a retrofitted button.

 

That location normally has a blanking plate for cars with xenon, or headlight leverer for non-xenons.

 

Whatever the retrofit was, they've utilised the blanking plate for the button.

 

Blank....

 

Headlight leveling and Light dimmer that would go there....

Yep, the location is a factory location, but the switch isn't factory.

Don't forget to tell your insurer that the car has been "modified". Of course, you'll need to find out what the modification is first...

My car has exactly the same switch (but with an indicator light). It is turn on/off the aftermarket front parking sensors.

Apologies for hijacking the thread, but how much were they to fit?
