New FL Skoda Superb 2020 tail lights - retrofit?

Featured Replies

Replacing the BCM is only important for the animation, the rest of the car stays as it is.
A newer BCM certainly has advantages, but that has nothing to do with the lights.

I already have my BCM here, everything just needs to be installed.

  • Go and buy a FL and stop imitate it... (facepalm)

  • thread update.   thanks to Mo, we've got part numbers for the Sedan. unfortunately there is only one supplier identified thus far, and its too bloody expensive - https://www.skodaautote

I disagree, I think the new rear lights freshen the car up quite nicely...

Are you going to write instruction? :)

Hmm. Can those wires from all four taillight modules be joined and routed to the front as one? I've had to disassemble half of the interior while installing the RVC and I'd rather avoid doing that again.

Yes, only one wire goes from BCM

BCM -> Left Outer - ----------------------------- Right Outer

                              Left Inner------------------Right Inner

Wirst du eine Anleitung schreiben?

Why, changing a BCM is nothing new. The rest of the animation is all known.

Hmm. Können die Kabel aller vier Rücklichtmodule zusammengeführt und als Ganzes nach vorne verlegt werden?

Yes, you can see how it is connected if you look at the circuit diagram.

Links innen----Rechts innen

How it is connected doesn't really matter. The signal from the BCM is PWM and this is regulated in the lights themselves.

I have old BCM with 3 ambient lights 😞

Replacing the BCM is not difficult in itself, but coding and adapting it to the vehicle is complex and can only be done online. And it has to be a new BCM.

You can use used parts - no requirement for them to be brand new.

Ich habe ein altes BCM mit 3 Umgebungslichtern 😞

With the 2105 Superb, only 3 colors are possible. But I don't know if you need other strips. You would have to see if they are the same.
Otherwise replace BCM.

But that has nothing to do with the taillights and is a completely different topic. Therefore I won't say any more about it here.

Sie können gebrauchte Teile verwenden – es ist nicht erforderlich, dass diese brandneu sind.

It does not work anymore. Skoda has changed. A used BCM can only be trained using a Skoda code. You can also learn a new one this way.

Has changed.

Hello again, kind fellow Superb fans. Does anyone by chance know what terminal is needed for that BCM pin 6 connection?

What do you mean by connection?
On the BCM it is connector C pin6

Edited by Lutz_91

I meant the type of the pin. From the way the socket looks I assume it's female. Could that be 000979133?

It is either a micro quadlock female or MCP 1.5mm or MCP 2.8mm i cant remember exactly which of the top of my head!

Yes is female

No, I mean it's a 000979025E

What are you planning to do now? Because your BCM is not suitable for 100% functionality. It will probably only work when you open it.

I'm totally good with partial functionality for the time being. Once we know how that BCM retrofit mentioned above goes, I'll have the cable ready if I decide to also go with it.

My new BCM is here. Just have to find time to convert it and have the coding done - unfortunately it's only possible online.

I've had my pACC coded remotely and aside from having to maintain the battery level the whole experience wasn't half bad.

I know I also have someone who does it remotely. But with BCM you also have to expand the old one and so on. It takes a while before you get it figured out.
And the coding takes time too. But yes, I already know that. You also have to find the time.

Yep, the time part is the most difficult one to arrange. I only managed to find some to figure out and order the terminals for the taillights adapters today. Good luck with the BCM - hopefully some nice new options aside from the closing animation will become available. 😉

Hi guys, been trying to figure it out reading your posts - to get the animation on locking as well we just need an EC BCM or there is something else? I realised my BCM hardware no is CG but than the software no is DQ, so which one is the actual BCM number?

I'm quite sure that CG is the hardware revision, probably the last pre-fl one, and thus the one providing only the opening animation.

Speaking about the main topic, I finally assembled my adapters and I plan to attempt the wiring soon, hopefully this week. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips?

At the moment my plan is to follow the attached page from the service manual in order to disassemble the side trims of the boot. I have a bit of experience with wiring the lid and getting from there to the MIB area after retrofitting the rvc, but getting from tail lights to those bloody rubber culverts by the hinges remains a bit of a mystery to me at the moment.

Loosen both sides and then thread the cable from the light using a wire or pull-through aid to the rubber grommet. It's a bit of fiddling but it works.

And then pull the cables from the rubber grommet in the tailgate to the inner lights. The path actually comes about itself. There is also enough space in the tailgate.

It seems that my case is neverending... 😅

I've installed the lights and wiring and I'm REALLY happy with the way my car looks, even without the trim bars. HOWEVER after connecting everything to the 6th pin of the rightmost connector of the BCM (it's a CG one, my car was assembled during the first weeks of 2019) nothing changed - the main lights just turn on and blinkers do two quick slides on car's opening. I decided to put all the hardware and trims together before changing the coding and it's still in progress - does that make any difference?

The car won’t know what to do with the added wiring until it’s coded correctly so that’s correct that nothing will change until the coding is fully complete.

Hello, I have prefecilft Superb 3 with semiLED rear lights. I wanna do the facelift conversion of the rear lights in the future. How many cables are needed to wire through the car to the BCM? I have removed interior trims now, so I can prepare the cables for future.
