Well some coding to do to get the taillights to their proper brightness (something called dimmwert needs to be changed from 100 to 127), but I'll do that once the rain stops

Did anyone find out what coding @AlVal done in its entirety?

  • thread update.   thanks to Mo, we've got part numbers for the Sedan. unfortunately there is only one supplier identified thus far, and its too bloody expensive - https://www.skodaautote

I disagree, I think the new rear lights freshen the car up quite nicely...

Hat jemand herausgefunden, welche Codierung @AlVal in seiner Gesamtheit durchgeführt hat?

What do you mean exactly? You have to code the indicators and possibly the reversing light, i.e. change the dimming value to 127.

The dynamic indicators? What controls this, is it within the light units so no need to code more?

And what allows the unlocking and locking shows?

Die dynamischen Indikatoren? Was steuert das, ist es innerhalb der Lichteinheiten, also muss nicht mehr codiert werden?

Yes, it is not coding.

Und was ermöglicht das Entriegeln und Verriegeln zeigt?

It works automatically, it turns on the turn signal when opening/closing, everything is controlled by the light. You don't need to code that.

my understand from wat i've read in the past is that most people were not able to get the on/off animation coded successfully.

the dynamic indicator does not seem to b an issue.  it just happens.

however the fading in/out animation when the car is turned on/off is was stumps most people who've done the retrofit.

as show here.....

Vor 11 Stunden sagte JR RS:

die Ein/Aus-Animation erfolgreich zu codieren.

wie hier gezeigt.....

That's how it is, with my MJ17 it only works when opening but not when closing. Unfortunately, I don't know what else needs to be changed. The people from CZ (Prague) don't tell anything but do it for a fee of 250€.

And those who have it don't give out a scan of the car. So you could compare before and after.

I suspect a BCM flash might help. But that's a bit of a lot of work to flash the BCM.

I just noticed today that the inside boot lid trim has access holes already to access the screws to remove the inner tailights!!

Hence no need to remove the entire boot lid trim!!

Skoda....simply clever :)

Daher muss nicht die gesamte Heckklappenverkleidung entfernt werden!!

But not available on German models.

we all get the same Superb models that rollout of the Czech factory.....unless ur in Chinese/Indian/Russian market.

most likely to do with Model Years.

maybe only certain MY models have those holes provisioned?
maybe its only on the hatch/sedan and not on the wagon/estate?

So I have a vFL MJ17.
It's a station wagon.

And the tailgate trim is plastic.
There are no holes to be seen.

According to the workshop manual, the tailgate trim must be removed when removing.

If there were holes, you wouldn't have to dismantle them.

The photo above is for a hatchback, the Estate/SW has a hard plastic boot lid trim, the hatchbacks have a fabric boot lid trim :)

That's possible, of course, I've never seen a sedan from the trunk.

That's it then - hatch vs. wagon difference.

The hatch has a felt/carpet like surface on the boot lid trim.

But it doesn't get you any further on the actual topic.
The animation is the problem.

Who has got the tail lamps fitted pre facelift and got the additional wire back to the bcm?

if they do; drop me a pm. I’ve got some things for you to try and possibly get working.

Hello, could someone please explain where to connect pin 5 and 7 of the facelift connector?

I dont know how this would work, currently all theory.

I am looking at finding a superb with the factory fitted lights and taking a full oscilloscope map of all the relevant pin outs.

Then possibly creating a lin/pwm emulator to mimic what is required for the closing animation if anything.

If the diy emulator works i can create a small batch at home of circuit boards that could simply need soldering in place.

This is all theory until i get a hold of the car - it might just be a power issue or something else.

So first things first - With their retrofitted taillamp setup, what happens to the rear lights with the bcm pin connected. Do the dynamic indicator animations and opening animations still function okay? Or does connecting the bcm pin actually effect something?

To answer some of my own questions here, I've made some diagrams of what a facelift tail light adapter set of conversion harnesses would look like to aid myself in . These diagrams are specific to Right hand drive notchbacks/liftback/hatchbacks (i.e. not estate/kombi/avant)

Thought I'd post them in case they're helpful to someone.

As you can see, it's pretty much a straight pin-for-pin mapping with 3x quirks -

a) now that the indicator is on both the inner and outer light clusters, some joining of these needs to happen

b) now that reverse has moved to the inner cluster, a wire for this needs dragging up over the bootlid hinge and back down

c) 2019 has a new wire on each side going all the way back from the indicator to the fusebox via connection 1 in the main harness, some sort of Canbus wire maybe?

I'll update the thread once I've built the harness and plugged the new lights in. I'm thinking I should build 2x harnesses while I'm at it if I'm doing one, so that I have an extra set for the next person who's thinking of attempting...

Hi!

I am now going to upgrade the normal headlights to the modified matrix headlights.

Do you have any instructions on the wiring sequence of the modified matrix headlights?

thanks

Weird one guys...

All was working just fine, then when i added the pin 6 wire for the opening animation the indicators have changed to no animation at all and are just on/off, no sweep.

Anyone had this and know the fix before i start hunting? :)

Thanks

oh no, that is bad news @ssavi 😞
sorry to hear that.

in ur pics, which one is old & which one is new?

hope u can sort out the wiring+connectors.

i ended up abandoning the idea of the sourcing the face-lift lights, for now, given its cost & availability in Oz.

so for the time being, I improvised with the chrome strip across the rear.

When you fitted the complete piece along the boot it has 4 bolt holes, Did you drill 4 holes in your boot lid to attach it to the car with nut and bolts?

Mine r not real - i improvised with door edge strip protection.

It's an L-shaped plastic adhesive, with a chrome finish, sourced from AliExpress.

Hence no drilling or screwing.

They've been on for 3+ years now and still solid, with no signs of wear.

I used the same with side door protectors, to give the L&K touch.

have it

Can anyone send a copy of the rear taillights code, mines are only doing the animation when unlock doors and I seen a superb doing the animation when locking doors as well. Maybe someone with factory facelift. Thank you

If you retrofit the lights it only works by unlock te car and nog locking
