It did drive amazing. Smooth and quiet but went like a stabbed rat when provoked. And much nicer place to be sat than the Octavia.

Can you hold off for the Hybrid Octavia 4?

Mk4 Octavia is 610litres in hatch back form, had a 72 hour test drive in a 280 sport line Superb, seriously didn't like the handling although, I have to confess, it's a fast armchair   But,

  • I really do understand your frustration @TheWanderer . Before coming to a Skoda last year, I’d had loads of different cars over the years.   Having had JLR products for the last 5 pre Skoda

  • I’m ultimately having the same issue due to different circumstance (my lease is ending). The vRS for me isn’t excellent at anything. But it’s very good at everything.

The Hybrid 508 might be worth a look.

Could possibly hold, there no real rush just the urge to save money asap. Not sure about the Peugeot, not my favourite manufacturer to be honest lol

For me if the choice was a used 530E or new Octavia hybrid my mind would be made up in 1 nanosecond.

And.................lol

@TheWanderer personally I'd try a fresh set of eyes on the car's problems, maybe check with SUK first & then give Camberly service centre a try.

Whilst I've not had your kinda issues before, I've always found them to be pretty good & have always felt they've put my interests before those of SUK as they don't have any other deals/relationship to maintain with SUK.

Try giving them a call & sounding them out, tell them the issues you've had with Garland's & just see if what they say gives you anymore confidence.

Fixing your current car or getting it to stage where you can live with it, is gonna be a lot cheaper than replacing it mid term on a PCP

BTW, whilst we all moan about the prices of Skoda's going up, it's not till you look around that you really realise what a Fn good deal they still are

I agree with TMWNA.

Leave the car with someone for as long as it takes for them to really fix it and just drive their loan car.

It is the to and fro which is the real pain with intermittent problems.

Have we had an answer to the "what's your budget" question yet?

Given most of the last 6 pages of recommendations are too expensive, knowing how much you want to spend is kind of important...

Sorry for the absence, too much work with not enough drivers!

I'm looking to do another PCP, because that's the only way I can finance a new car and stay within the budget. £350 pcm max, over 36-48 months. Depending on what they're going to give me for this THING.

Unless you paid a large deposit with the current trade in values of used Octavia's you may find yourself in negative equity.

Probably. What's driving me mad is that the car has performed perfectly for the last week (Kiss of death)

It must have read this thread! 😂

Could it be they've finally sorted the issues?

The car doesn't go in until February 3rd.

The weather has warmed up a bit, maybe the car likes the warmth!!!

My car behaves in a random manner, in that the fault can occur both in freezing and warmer days. Go figure!
