Hi

I have a 2014 Rapid space back.

It has the Skoda Swing head unit built in.

Im happy with the head unit and I don't fancy swapping it out as I like the look of the stock interior.

My only issue is, is that when I have my phone connected by Bluetooth with Spotify or any streaming source I cant change the tack with the steering wheel controls or the head unit it's self. I can only change the tracks with my phone which isn't safe and illegal.

Does anyone know if there is a way of fixing this via VCDS or any settings etc.

I've had a good play with all the settings but I can't seem to find a way.

Thanks for any help

@chrisgreen will know this one, I'm sure of it.

Hello - I have been summoned! :)

@franky89 - the inability to change tracks over Bluetooth via the steering wheel controls is a known issue, and I’m afraid it’s due to the Swing head unit. The Swing does not play well with the Rapid’s Bluetooth module (The Swing is a VERY old VW unit and predates Bluetooth in cars), and the Swing has a number of limitations. It is the Swing that prevents track control via the steering controls, and also limits track information display over Bluetooth.

The only way to fix this is to replace the Swing unit with the Amundsen sat nav head unit. The Amundsen is the correct nav head unit for the car and looks great, and it does interact correctly with the car’s Bluetooth module. It will allow track control of Spotify (or any other music streaming service) via the steering wheel controls, supports full track information display on the head unit’s screen and - and this is the best bit - the audio output quality of the Amundsen is considerably better than the Swing!

An Amundsen (you need the RNS315 model, Without Bluetooth as your car already has a stand-alone Bluetooth module) head unit will cost about £250 on eBay and its and investment well worth making.

They are a doddle to fit, will take about 10 minutes. It’s pretty much plug and play. Lots of threads here on how to do it.

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris green

Thanks a lot for your help I will have a look out on eBay for rns315 it sounds like the only option plus I'll have the gps which will be a bonus :)

Can I ask if the 2014 rapid space back is canbus 2.0

thanks

franky

Not sure. I am assuming it’s Canbus 2.0 as the RNS310 and RNS315 nav units are drop in replacements with no need for cable

mods or the Canbus 1.6-2.0 converter module.

Is this one the model you may require?

@Franky89 That’s a really good deal on a brand new one! Can’t tell if that’s the one with built-in Bluetooth or not (remember, you need the one without integrated Bluetooth).

Chris

Hi guys,

The one I have for sale doesn't have integrated Bluetooth.

Hi thanks for all your help.

I would have had that stereo but circumstances have changed so I might go for the cheap Bluetooth module that's acts as a cd changer. I will loose the compatibility on the maxidot but it will just be temporary.

And I will get the rns315 in the future.

Thanks again
