  • I think it looks fantastic, much much better than the 80's looking current car, with its excessive overhangs and minicab panache. This will be a car to further consolidate Skoda as a legitimate brand

  • The profile and the rear of the combi dont look to bad, I dont like the front though. That grill is just way to big and very american in styling.

  • I just think its 'ok'. Remember when the Impreza changed in 2000 - their was a furore - I can't see that happening with the Octavia as the new one is just nondescript. The back of the estate reminds

So' date=' Kay, is it simply "a Photoshop" job or is it a [b']reliable[/b] Photoshop job? :D

I don't know..........

All I did, ist just set the link........... The car magazine wrote, these are the new Skoda and show exactly this pics.

All we can do, is just waiting until the fair at Geneve...........

What the F@~@@ have they done to that -- I am afraid if thats an accurate picture I will not be buying one!!!

That's OK then Dave - I thought you were keeping your vRS "for ever" ;):D

I certainly will if they are going to look like that !!!

Having said that though --- it may be better to sell now -- whilst the resale value is still half decent.

If they produce that "Thing" values will drop quicker than Jordan's Knickers! :D

Nah Mate, you must have mistaken her for someone who actually wears knickers :D

Bl**dy typical .... I spend 12K on a car, and they promptly announce a new model before mine's even been delivered!

Mind you, if thats what it looks like, I think I'll be sticking to the old style. It's hideous. IMHO.

It'd be a sad day indeed when I cough up for anything that might get me mistaken for a BMW driver.

Chris

5 1/2 days to go ... :smile-l:

Ha ha ha ha ha! How **** does that look? It looks like Skoda plied BMW's Chris Bangle with a load of booze, drugs, pencils and paper at a party, smuggled away his hallucinatory scrawlings, and then built that abomination based on the drawings.

That front is just abysmal. The sides and back I can live with, but that front - :tomato:

Of course it probably is a fake, but if this is a sign of things to come, you can keep it!

Dont forget there are no plans for a vRS in the new model, so the old one should hold its value. it may even increase in value.

Grrrrrrr. What are you all whining about? This is a classic, extremely elegant design, combining modern looks and the dignity of the Skoda traditional radiator. It's lovely, looks nothing like a VW (or a lousy BMW), and if it were big enough in the combi I'd jump at one. This car looks excellent, a thousand times better than a Hyundai Merc for instance, or a Bangle Bimmer. Skodas must have a little quirkyness to set them apart as truly Bohemian vehicles. You all seem to have no idea of the history of this great marque - look at some examples from the past. They have never been quite like all other cars. Rally round chaps! i can't wait for the Geneva show to see it.

I'm reserving judgement until I've actually seen it in the metal.

Remember when they showed 'accurate' pictures of the 'new Impreza' in 2000 ?

When it came out, it was far, far WORSE ! :D

:mw:

Very Lancia-ish.

A Classic? Its a photo-comp!!! How can you "see" something that only exists in a PC??? :D

Another picture!!

This one's just appeared on a Dutch general-motoring website, so I'm afraid there's no input (yet) on the whereabouts portrayed on this picture or the question of whether it is Photoshopped or not (can anybody tell? My eyes aren't that good... :D ).

octavia_II.jpg

From the picture's URL we can deduct it's from this Swedish site, where it is presented under Nyheter (news). It says that the picture was sent in by one David Polak. Maybe our Swedish friends can help out here...

So where was this picture taken? And is it genuine?

Apart from that, it looks way better than the very obviously Photoshop pictures posted at the start of this thread. I wouldn't object to having one of these...

What a difference a change of angle can make! :)

It does look frightfully big for an Octavia, doesn't it?

I reckon its a good-looking fake slotted on top of a real background.

Why would it be on display at a Motorshow if it hadn't been launched yet ?

On saying all of that, the 5 series clear indicator strips in the headlights have improved the look if its real!

Well, I've enlarged it quite a bit, and I can't find any artefacts that you would usually see on a Photoshopped image. The lighting all seems to tally and even the reflection of the rear alloy on the floor (which most image manipulators would miss) is there. I was trying figure out what the car was in the left background (Superb??).

If it is a fake, it is a very, very good fake.

Well it has a smaller grill than the original. It must be a good photoshop or the pic would have surfaced earlier. it is very convincing, the reflections etc look right. The front reg plate looks wrong though, and so does the shadow at the front.

I looked at the reflections as well and it looked pretty good. My question is 'WHY' more than anything - as in why have it opn display at what looks like a large trade fair, if the car is not launched until next year ? They normally do test viewings in controlled conditions, so that's confusing me!

Looks a bit old meets new 5 series meets Mazda 6 ! Good stance :)

I think I have found a flaw in the image, I blew it up to 1024x768 and the rear wheel in the pic is just plain wrong. it appears to be steering slightly and angled like the suspension is bent.

This is the reflection I mentioned earlier

45octavia_IIfront.jpg

Why when the front has an indent is there a bulge in the shadow.

Looks very good but since it looks like the current A4 (IMHO), which is a good looking car, then it's not hard.

I can see what you mean, Manny, but the reflection from an object off-camera to the left is there in the shadow when I boost the brightness of the image. Often you find errors in shadows that way, but this one looks OK to me.

I'm leaning more to original the more I look at it.

wot no vRS!!!! :cussing:

I was going to say that if they did the sensible thing and did a vrs with about 250 bhp ,low emissions (for us company cars drivers to keep the tax lower)& 4x4 then I could live with the styling but if there is no Vrs then no way.......

Roomster???? who let that thing out? looks like a mutated kangoo (NO not a kangaroo ) only much much worse - makes me think of a hearse - you would have to kill me to get me in it!! :D

And more to the point, as touched on by Fabpreza, it's supposed to be at a car show. Why haven't we seen it anywhere else? Spy-esque shots I can accept but not ones that show members of the public wandering about.

Just a thought but the new Passat has the wing mirror/indicator set up a la Mercedes. Could this be an 'altered' image of the Passat from a recent show?

I can confirm this is a photoshop, I found a simillar pic on the internet. it is indeed a pic based on the passat hence the size. I cant find a bigger version though you get the idea.

112_01as_genv01_vwpassat.jpg

Hats off to them though, it's s blood good photoshop!!

(looks more like a superb replacement than an octavia one, but works quite well, as others have said slightly 5series esque, in a good way  )
