New Octavia - first pics

Featured Replies

The latest pic is a major improvement over the bloated whale of a car that started this thread.

If the new octy does look like the silver one, I'd easily buy one. Far more pleasing on the eye.

However, there could be a problem with my chariot choice in the near future anyway, might ben changing before this is out. D'OH!

  • I think it looks fantastic, much much better than the 80's looking current car, with its excessive overhangs and minicab panache. This will be a car to further consolidate Skoda as a legitimate brand

  • The profile and the rear of the combi dont look to bad, I dont like the front though. That grill is just way to big and very american in styling.

  • I just think its 'ok'. Remember when the Impreza changed in 2000 - their was a furore - I can't see that happening with the Octavia as the new one is just nondescript. The back of the estate reminds

Hats off to them though' date=' it's s blood good photoshop!!

I agree, Ian! I had my suspicions - and that's what I posted in the first place - but it wasn't because of the picture itself but because of the motorshow background, which is just impossible for the Octavia. And then it looked awfully big for a new Octy...

(looks more like a superb replacement than an octavia one, but works quite well, as others have said slightly 5series esque, in a good way  )

So why isn't Des waiting for one of these? :D

Skoda should take a look at that pic then, fake or otherwise.

Its not a bad looking car at all, but i still don't like those headlights ;)

There were a couple of sketch's on the same site as the silver picture -- sent in by the same David Polak, also some very poor photoshop images seen before that I have not bothered with

Looks OK apart from the waistline being a bit too high

Yeah now what you mean, looks a bit "Tudor" ish as well -- which is well past tense - although it never emerged as the Passat Coupe either did it ??

Whatever the rest of the car looks like the grill and badge will be the same. Most likly as the Roomsters preview. It's a skoda tradition to maintain the same design accross the range...Looks okayish, again buy car's on technical merits, do not really care what they look like. If I lived in Scotland up past glencoe, I'd have a TDI110 Landy, chic apartment in Soho a TT, middle england anything thats sensible and fun to drive. ;)

Will see if we can use the briskoda name to prise some images out of vaults.

Today's Autocar has a small piece on the new Octavia and an artists impression that is different to the one in this thread - except the headlights which must be right then ! (Apologies if already posted elsewhere):-

- 105/140 TDi, 180 petrol, maybe not the FSi engines yet due to fuel in East Eur

- Out Geneva March 04, estate Sept 04 > launch early 05

- 4x4 IS being replaced after the Golf off-roader launch (06 my guess)

This weeks Auto Express has a spy shot(real!) of the new Octavia, much more evolution than revolution and NOT with new family grille. Page 17

Can anyone scan this in?

Can anyone scan this in?

I would, but postie hasn't delivered my copy yet :(

Is it me or are Royal Mail getting really bad these days?

it looks very smart and according to the report they have improved the chassis so that it will handle better than the new golf.

they have improved the chassis so that it will handle better than the new golf.

Ooh, I like the sound of that - apparently we can trust the Czechs to upstage the parents from Wolfsburg, again... :D

It also says " A new engine line up will initially comprise three diesel and two petrol powerplants . The oil burners will be available in 1.4 , 1.9 and 2.0 litre capacities , while the petrol choices will be 1.4 and 2.0 litre FSI four cylinder units .

There are currently no plans to offer the V5and V6 engines produced by Volkswagen for the latest Golf, Touran and Touareg models . However a vRS badged performance flagship , powered by a 180BHP 2.0 litre diesel , is rumoured to be under development . This motor is also likely to be used by SEAT for a new range-topping Ibiza FR ."

Did everyone catch that?

The 2.0 TDI!

Another diesel vRS!!!

anyone scanned in the pics?

As someone posted on the previous page, the actual photo in the AutoExpress article (NOT aAutocar) is a lot milder than anything else we've seen Photoshopped !

It basically looks like a FACELIFTED Octavia shape rather than an all-new radical bodyshape ... and headlights...;) I know its an all-new car but you will be relieved when you see the pics.

Rob

cool hopefully someone will get a pic on here soon

Yeah, come on, there must be one Briskodian around with an AutoExpress subscription and a scanner?

For our more 'squeaky when they walk' members (excluding the Dutch) you could always do what I did and buy a copy.

Kenny, you're in Scotland aren't you?

Like most other Octavia vRS drivers I was looking forward to up grading when the new car was out. But not to Diesel, if i wanted fuel economy i would buy a small sensible car. Skoda remember we are not all company car drivers. :nono:

Any way gripe out the way.

I liked the new shape, glad they have changed the headlights.

But they havent changed it to much, residual values should not be dented to Badly on older Skodas and if the new vRS is Diesel they should go up not down. :blinker:

There's a pic (artist impression) of the new Octy in this weeks Autocar (yes, Autocar on page 14).

Got the Roomsteer front end/grill and to me, looks like an A4-ish rear profile.

yip rich im ion scotland, why?

unfortunately ive been working and as its coming up to xmas its been mad ! but ill buy one at weekend
