12 lights stopped working

Featured Replies

So I went to start my car today and had 12 light warnings on the dash computer. Front and back, licence plate reverse break, headlight, turn signal, my god I was confused. Had a look at the bulbs and they were fine, more confused.  So started pulling all the fuses and they were fine. No joy, then pulled them all from the unit under the bonnet and voila all the lights came back on, no idea why, and now the lights will stay on when the ignition is on but the light switch is off, has this ever happened to anyone. It has been raining for ever it seems, maybe some water is getting in to something.

Body control module, a VCDS scan should reveal all.

Cheers J.R hopefully that is it, I've never had or used a vcds scanner, would it be worth getting one, is it just softwear and a lead. How do the body control units start acting up. Sorry so many questions.

Hi,

there was a common fault on the MK11s have a look at the fuses in the set under the bonnet at the end nearest the screen there is a green fuse left - right the contacts on this may well be corroded.

clean them up and put some Vaseline on the holder and fuse and pop it in and out a few times. This may fix it 🙂

Yea jjc, its funny after I removed and put them all back hadn't a clue what any of them did, the lights worked again so maybe I'll go back and look again as the lights won't turn off unless the ignition is off now, like it's only running lights dipped beams etc so it's not so bad I usually have them on In the day anyway, it's just a bit annoying I can't turn them off at the switch.

Hello!

My question can be out of topic, but I was searching everywhere,

I want to ask you about the selector lever lights P R N D S. I just bought a skoda octavia 2 2010 and I noticed that this light are not on when I switch on the lights.  It has lamp under those letters or no? and if it has what can be the problem, fuse, lamp, ?

Hello Sino23,

I have the exact same issues in my Skoda octavia 2010. Can you please explain what you did to make it work. And maybe take a picture of the Fuses that you removed and cleaned.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Sorry do not have that car any more so no pic, however if you look in the fuse box in the engine bay then look for a green one nearest the screen and look at its contacts and give them a clean and possibly put sone Vaseline on it to stop corrosion.

Thanks a lot for the answer!

I actually solved the problem by changing the fuse for the right side lamps (front and back). I think it's the same fuse that you are talking about above @jjc. A 30 ampere fuse.

I would defenetly  recomend to check the fuse boxes if you get  several lamps failiures at the same time!
