Vehicle owners to be granted MOT exemption in battle against CV19

Featured Replies

"All cars, vans and motorcycles which usually would require an MOT test will be exempted from needing a test from 30 March 2020. Vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition, and garages will remain open for essential repair work. Drivers can be prosecuted if driving unsafe vehicles."

Nothing about vehicles currently due for MoT or due in the next week.

Mine is due on 17th April

It was booked in (a week and half ago) to be done today.

As I am self isolating since Friday, I cancelled it yesterday.

So at least if's one less thing to worry about.

My car was due for a service on Tuesday which was cancelled on the morning due to the lock down 😞 The good news is it saved me money not having it done, but the bad news is I'm not entirely sure what happens to the warranty. The car will still be driven as i refuse leave it sitting around for 6 months, but the mileage will obviously be very very low. Purely the occasional run to the supermarket and on to a  possible walk around local water park, keeping the battery charged up and the oily bits lubricated.

  • 3 months later...

Mandatory MOT's for vehicles in England, Wales and Scotland will be reintroduced from 1st August the Government has said....

Perfectly wrong timing......ECU light keeps coming on in the Skoda, MOT can be done in October but will fail at this rate. Lets hope for a false localized outbreak so I can get it moved on another 6 months😂 (or if someone can do an EGR/ASV delete that would also work!)
