Felicia brake uprating

Featured Replies

So over the past month or so  I’ve been getting on with some small jobs with my 1.3GLi Felicia. The next thing I’d like to replace are the front discs and calipers, I’ve found new discs, 236mmx12.9mm with 4 studs that are grooved & drilled. I’d also like to buy some Fabia Vrs 6Y calipers to use & some pads to use, would this be possible with the size difference between models? I’m not sure of interchangeability between Felicia and Fabia so if anyone can share some info i’d appreciate it, or any tips for doing the change.

i would just use ebc stuff for the pads if you want upgraded parts i suggest you check this site

If you're going for EBC, Greenstuff pads will be more than sufficient.  EBC recommend them for cars up to 200 bhp.  I've got them, along with their grooved and drilled discs on the front and their plain discs on the rear, of both my 210 bhp Mk5 Golf TDI and my 180 bhp ish Yeti TDI.  I've been using them now for getting on for 20 years, ever since I fitted them to my Mk4 Golf.  I find a complete set of discs and pads usually lasts me 30k miles of hard use.

Many thanks guys and cheers for the links. Those discs look great! With a new set of alloys it'd be nice to show them off😃 I will be making some purchases soon, need to shop for some new bearings  too haha!

I usually avoid drilled as they tend to great thermal fatigue of the steel due to colder points on a hot disc.

I've had no problems using them on three road cars over the past 17 years and 200k miles.

Inevitably it was grooved and drilled that I bought, longevity may be reduced but they sure look good 🤭 For only daily use they should hold up okay, paired with some yellowstuff pads, I ended up finding them on eurocarparts where they are on sale and much cheaper than ebc's greenstuff, bargain lol!

The product code is 93059051Y: https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/ebc-yellow-stuff-high-performance-brake-pad-set-93059051Y

I haven’t been able to find many other performance parts on site unfortunately, just a Pipercross airfilter for the standard filter box - Product Code: 909446301

https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/pipercross-performance-air-filter-909446301

Hopefully that helps a little at least!

Felicia and Fabia are not compatible at all. Felicia has girling-licensed front brakes, similar to Ford Sierra and Mondeo. More info about brake uprate can be found in this topic.

Thanks for that! Good to know, there is no shortage of both Sierra’s and Mondeo’s here in Ireland so if I decide to go bigger it shouldn’t be too difficult finding a donor, much appreciated Papez
