Removing the rear seats from Fabia Monte Carlo

Featured Replies

I already have a Top Box but I need a little more space so I am looking to remove the rear seats.

The car is the Fabia Monte Carlo Estate 1L 2019

I have had the Yeti and this presented no problem, but the Monte seats don't fold down flat.

I have camping gear that fitted perfectly but thanks to Covid I need a separate shower tent and

a bigger porta potti! hence the need to remove the rear seat or perhaps just the backs. I'm getting

on a bit so talk slowly :)

I have an early (May 2015) Tsi 90 SEL Estate, and on that, you can rotate the rear seat squabs forward and then either leave them up against the back of the from seats or remove them altogether. Once that is done, you can then fold the rear seat backs flat, although depending how far back the front seats are, it is sometimes necessary to remove the rear headrests too. I'm in Bristol as well, so very happy if you want to arrange a side-by-side comparison (stop s******ing at the back, Pearson!).

Below is what info I could find on how to remove the rear bench, seems you just need some brute force and a sharp tug.

Word of warning. If you remove the bottom seats. You will need a full set of new clips. They brake/snap when you remove the seat.

What’s the purpose of that? Ridiculous idea. I used to tilt my mk2’s seat bases forward to vacuum underneath.

My 66 Polo was the same, none of these disposable clips.

Also was heated rear seat ever an option?

Sorry about the delay replying, my computer threw a software wobbley.

I have tried removing the seats then realised I no longer have a garage

to store it in! but I do have an extension room I am banned from.

Next idea, how do I remove the parcel shelf /rear space retractable

cover?

Thank you all for the previous answers.

Thanks Gumdrop, but this isn't the Mark 3

Thanks everyone. Yes, the seat bases can come out, but buy a spare set of grommets first. Skoda, what a retrograde design step. Now, what about the seat backs. On my Mark 2 they weigh about 40kg. You can remove them by taking a screwdriver to push round the circular circlip on the outside pivot position, unscrewing the central seat belt fixing, then pulling each back out sideways to take the bottom pivot out of the holding cylinder. Voila, a 2-seater estate. Doddle, done it many times. Is the Mark 3 the same?

I have the Mk3 and it works in a very similar way to the video, try it.

I've been to the Skoda dealership here and they are adamant the Mark 3 estate seats do not come out like the video. Feeling pretty fed up!

For removing the backrest for the rear bench seats, see the workshop manual section below:
