Featured Replies

Does anyone know what campaign 60E3 means. Had my karoq sportline TDI serviced on

wednesday and did not realize till i got home that 60E3  had been carried out.

Ohh........I'm worried now !

Just typed my VIN number into the VIN checker on the Skoda website and it say's there is a recall on my car, but doesn't say what it is..........?

Not really looking forward to the faff of taking it back in the current climate, it's only done 400 miles !

Try a check on the .gov.uk web site. It may give more info.

https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

Just confirms no "government" ie safety recalls.....

Presumably something less serious.....

Intrigued to know what it is, I suppose if all else fails I could ring a dealer.....!

I tried all morning but keeps ringing out, what ever it is, it did not take long to do.

I had service &60E3 done in hour&half.

email Skoda Customer Services or Customer Services in whatever country anyone is in.

Ask what the Recall Action or Service Campaign action is.

It is not against Data Protection to tell you.  It is not a Skoda Secret Service Campaign with a need to know basis and owners / drivers do not need to know.

No Dealership should carry out and 'Enhancements or updates or recall actions'  and not explain why to a driver / owner when the car is collected.

It is the owners vehicle or one they lease and not something for 'Dealership employees' to know about and not the person that will be behind the wheel, or that pays the bills.

Thanks, can't see anything that is obviously linked to the code  60E3....

Hope it's not the " Too little torque from the engine"......that sounds serious.......🏎️

Ok mystery over......

I've just rung a local Skoda garage, not the absolutely incompetent one I bought it from, and the girl on the service desk was very helpful.

My recall is campaign 60E3 and relates to the drain on the pano roof...........

She definitely said drain, 'cos over on the Golf GTi forum many seem to suffer cracks at the side of the pano roof, I definitely don't want that thanks !

Think that was the 'kangaroo' fix.

There is an ongoing campaign for diesel engines regarding Adblue dosing metering. This came up just as the Covid lockdown kicked in so my appointment booking was put back. When it first came about none of the dealerships even had the piece of kit/workshop tool to do the job so that was a non-starter. I haven't got around to rebooking yet as my dealership has only recently got back up to speed.

I have been told by my dealer of 2 issues - one is that the drain pipes from the panoramic roof need to be cleared out in case they block, and the other relates to the calibration of a sensor. They weren't specific as to which sensor, but westie38's post gives a highly likely answer. All work to be done foc, of course. Going in next week to have the work done (together with a service).

Quick up date on this - I booked my car in yesterday for next Thursday (9th) for both issues. Sods law being what it is, after last nights/this mornings torrential rain, when I opened the car drivers side door I was met with a small lake in the rubber floor mat. Ah well, I thought, at least it hasn't gone over the edge of the mat. After soaking up and drying the mat I lifted it out and the carpet below was absolutely sodden with standing water. I must have vacuumed about a litre of water from the carpet and underlay stuff.

The car is usually on a slight incline with the front end lower so we'll see how it goes pointing the other way around. I'm fairly sure the door seals are ok, at least they look ok, so I presume the sunroof drains are the problem.

Just had recall 60E3 on my Karoq Edition.

Problem is the pano roof drains blocking. Assume due to general debris and where car parked.Unsure whether they have just blown them through or changed anything. Report says "drain valve".

I think that the drain 'valve' is no more than a flattened end to the pipe - at that's what it look like on the various VAG Youtube vids and also how it was on my Passat years ago. I would reckon that they will simply snip the ends off leaving an open pipe. Looking at the front sunroof drain holes they are quite difficult to access to clear out with a nylon rod or similar. The rear ones would be impossible to get to without removing the glass and I cannot see them doing that. Opening sunroofs are a pain in the derrière - much better to have a fixed pano roof with a sun blind aka LR Evoque.

Hi Westie,

I think you are right about VAG drain valve issues, and can understand that you would not want an opening roof.

However it appears to be possible to have a pano roof without issues as I owned a BMW 3 series Touring with one, on which the rear glass would also tilt. From new and for 14 years, which was never garaged, and never had any problems. So it aint necessarily so!

I'm with pat997 on this,

I've had opening sunroofs in all my cars since the 1980s and can only recall one having any problems leaking - from memory probably a Golf Mk 4 which I owned from new for around 7 years. None of the others, (from Citroen Visa, several Citroen BXs, Citroen Xantia, Skoda Octavia, Golf Plus and now Golf SV) have leaked despite always parking on my drive. The nearest trees are on the other side of the road, so although I can find leaves and seeds on the car, it doesn't seem that much muck gets in to block up the drain pipes.

Despite air-con now making sunroofs redundant now from the point of view of cooling the car down in summer, I still like the extra light coming into the car (especially as my new Karoq will be having a very black interior!) And the ability to help out the air-con by tilting the roof up when you first get into a hot car is also very useful!

Another update: So, I've just had a look/see and I've managed to get a length of silicone rubber tubing down through and inside the drain tubes. I can get it as far as the bottom of the windscreen area, but I think there may be some sort of elbow after that to take any water downwards and out through the wheel arch area. I then used a syringe with warm soapy water and fired that down the tube but nothing came out through the bottom. I then tried blowing down the tube as hard as I could but again nothing shifted.

After I regained consciousness I picked myself up off the drive and tried the other side, but that is the same, so we'll see if the dealership guys have any better luck next week.  A good opportunity to clean the inside area of the sunroof opening though.

To be fair, I agree with pat997 and CJJE about the sunroofs, I've had them on my previous Kuga, Passat and even going back to my XR3i days without any issues - so long as everything drains well they are good. I just didn't bargain for having to wear wellies inside the car...

And the mist is starting to clear...  With the help of Arkaig's EXCELLENT workshop manuals and parts finder, I found this diagram showing the routing and parts appertaining to the sunroof drainage https://ifinterface.com/prog/car/cp2/inprog.php. It does indeed show the water drain valves, and also the fact that Skoda revised these after 26/11/2019. It looks like the front valves only go as far as the scuttle panel below the windscreen, whereas the rear valves exit closer to the rear wheel arch rather than the tailgate area.

A year or so back I suffered sodden carpets from the sun roof. This turned out to be a pinched drainage pipe in the a pillar which was replaced and no problems since. The dealer did, however, dry out the carpets for me!

Yet another update. I've just picked up the car this morning after it went in last Thursday for both recall jobs. They discovered that the sunroof drains were in fact working fine, but the problem was with a gap in the sealant between the bulkhead and some other panel relating to the wing. I was a bit dubious about this, but the upshot of it all was that they have replaced the missing section of sealant and replaced all of the carpet and underlay/soundproofing under warranty. Quite a big job as this entails taking all of the seats out and bits of trim. They seem to have done a good job so I guess only time will tell as to wether it will let water in again. Strange that it's taken 2 1/2 years to get to the point were it started to leak but the dealers must be fairly satisfied that it's been a success.
