Just so you know, you don't need to press the A button

As soon as you touch the clutch it should automatically start, and when the aircon etc needs the engine to run the compressor it will start too.

Skippy’s an auto so doesn’t do anything until the gas is applied, which meant I was moving forward when the starter was still turning.  I’d rather just switch it off for all the fuel it will save.

The only other car I’ve driven had it so that the starter cranked when the foot came off the brakes so engine was fully running by the time it got my size 11 on to the go pedal.  Remember having a traffic lights quick draw with a couple of vans where all three of us stopped, all three of our engine died and all 3 of our engines fired up on green.  My first experience of stop start.  Coming from LRs, I still thing “that car’s broken down” when I hear an engine stop at a junction or traffic lights.  😆

Thanks.  Think I may have seen those wheels on eBay!

Using an ice hockey puck has the advantage that you can cut a slot in it for the sill seam.  You would need to secure the puck to the jack safely.

I was thinking of these, still live, looks similar.

On my Sel just a twitch of the steering wheel starts the engine.

Will try the steering wheel.  👍

Re jacking up the car, looks like it should be no problem with a standard jack.

Much good info in the manuals section.  👍

Minor update time.   Change of plan re all season tyres, have gone for full winters and have these ready to go on.  Been a fan of Conti winters tyres for a while, will see how these do in the white stuff in a couple of months. :D

Was after a couple of spares to carry in the car, dependant on what was on the car, one winter tyre and one summer, when I came across this set for sale.  Worth a bit of a drive, well a lot of a drive at 600 miles, to get them.  Now I have 2 spares (tyres on order) and two spare spares!

Now I must stop looking for wheels!

2nd minor update.  Had winters put on the “new” rims and said rims on the car at the beginning of the month.  Now done ~1,200 miles on them, local driving right through to motorway long hauling, incl some “fash(ish) blasts.  No difference in feel and noise from the factory fitted Bridgestones.   Brill.   Only thing left is to see how they behave when the white stuff falls, though the benefits from winter tyres are not only in the snow.

Still a bit warm for winters? I will put mine on in November when a cold spell is predicted. They are intended for 7degrees or less really.

i have a set from my Yeti on 16" steel hubs which are the recommended witner tyre size and hub offset also for the Karoq

It made my Black Yeti look quite different with black steel wheels and no wheelcovers. Should do the same for my Karoq which is also black!

We’re up in the Highlands and haven’t seen double digit temp numbers for a couple of weeks now.  +6c at the mo, was driving in +2c heading past Dalwhinnie on Friday.  I tend to put them on a little early, beats the rush if the garage is doing it (my car) or before it gets freezing when I do it (SWMBO’s car).   SWMBO used to insist that I did it when it was proper winter temps in the morning but took pity on me as I’d be coming back in with no feelings in my hands.

The approved 16" wheels for Yeti seem different from that for Karoq. Suggest you check further in the DPF from the bottom of this page:

I have been told this before, so I will check again but the wheels, as far as I could tell were the correct Karoq spec. Perhaps I was sold the wrong ones for the Yeti

If not there will be set of winter wheels with loads of tread left for sale here shortly!

I wouldn't worry, despite what the 'barrack room lawyers' might have to say - if they look right and fit without catching on full lock then where's the problem?

Depends how pedantic an insurance assessor might be when you really need that insurance cover?

I haven’t done a trial fit yet. My car has 19” wheels as standard but does list 16” 6j wheels as the winter option. However that is also the only size which can have snow chains so perhaps narrower than could be fitted without chains.
I have had another look at my own current winter set.

6j x 16 steel wheels with et43 offset.

Tyres are 215/60 99H.

Looks like the wheels were a bit narrower than they should have been on the Yeti.

I did review the rolling radius which is slightly less than my summer tyres fitted but legal as speedo will be slightly more optimistic. I always use a true speed app though to determine exact speeds. Eg current tyres are reading 74 at an exact 70.

This wheel and tyre combination is one of those listed above though.

Why does it change with different motors though? What is the 190ps diesel code?
